What I'm Fighting For


In an abyss of casual sex
and hollow forget-me-nots,
there is a shining light -
a brilliant star, an escape -
my soulmate.
This jumbled world, this enigma
tries to deceive me about love,
make me think empty, sweet nothings are the
Real Thing.
But someday, like two connecting puzzle pieces,
I'll meet my match,
and he'll be the only true fit for me.
When our eyes finally meet,
when we finally gaze into the windows of each other's compatible souls,
we'll know.
We'll know that we are destined for one another,
meant to be.
And we'll keep re-learning this together until
time heaves its final breath.
That is true love
and that is what I'm waiting for.
What I'm fighting for.

If you can relate to the piece of literature that you have just read - it is truly an amzing piece because connections made simply between two utter strangers through writing and reading poetry, just as this is done rite now.


I love the topic that you chose to write about. Finding a soulmate incorporates so many emotions , that words can potray an array of feelings, taking your poetry to a higher level of excellence. If you were to edit the poem i would try making you feelings ABOUT soulmates , and finding one more clearly sstated. It is hard to decide you thoughts, weather you are angry, or just lonsomely waiting.

I especially like your reapeated phrase at the end. It really adds the final impact needed to close the poetry. Job well done. I look forward to further pieces of yours.
