I play a lot of games and watch a lot of TV and movies, so I often try to imagine game concepts based on shows. I know a lot of movies have already been done - Saving Private Ryan (MOH for PS2), Spider-Man, Batman, Indiana Jones, The Thing, The Hulk, Star Wars, The Matrix, etc., etc.. but not many TV shows get made into games. And of course, some games are made into movies - Tomb Raider, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc. We need some new ideas though. What do you think?

Considering that most liscened games are ridiculously bad, and I can't think of any good video game-based movies, I think that this is a practice that should just be stopped. No good can come of it.

...though I do have high hopes for the new Matrix game......

Several PC games have been based on Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Just look in the spot where your local store keeps all of the shitty, low price games that nobody buys.

The Matrix was made into a video game? When?

It's not been released yet. It comes out the same day as the first sequel.

Looks pretty good, honestly.

Actually, Arkday, the Indiana Jones game for XBOX is really good. Granted, it may be the FIRST good Indy game, but it's a good one. Rogue Leader for Gamecube is a killer Star Wars game too. Maybe those games dominate the 'shite' section of the store because there's just a lot more of them - let's face it; eventually everybody gets rid of even their best games.

I had an idea for a Splinter Cell movie - George Clooney could play Sam Fisher. It's a Tom Clancy game, so I think it would probably make a damn decent movie. It's a great game. Have you played it?

They couldn't possibly make Splinter Cell into a movie. The story line couldn't possible fit into a 2-3 hour time frame without being confusing as hell.

Do you have Xbox Live btw?

The X-Box game wasn't the first...their are like 2 Indiana Jones that came out for PC beforehand I think. As for Star Wars, like half a dozen PC games came out over 3 years ago. I've never played any of them...I've just noticed games based on movies almost never sell well, and even from the box they look bad.

Ryno, I don't play any of my consoles online. As it is, I barely have time to finish all the games I've got offline. One of these days, I'm determined to play an online shooter though.

In response to your comment about a Splinter Cell movie, believe me - if they want to, ANYTHING can be turned into a two-hour film. Which version of Splinter Cell have you played? The PC, XBOX, PS2 or GC version? I'm curious to see what the PS2 and GC versions are like. Based on the descriptions on the website (http://www.splintercell.com/us) the xtras sound pretty cool.

Yes, I had the Atari version of Raiders of the Lost Ark, where Indy is just a symbol consisting of about 8 square pixels, so I know the Indy and Star Wars games have been around as long as consoles have. I'm just saying that they're finally to the point of being able to make games that actually look a lot like the movies do. If you haven't played the new Indy game, you should - it's such a great game. Same with Rogue Leader for Gamecube - the Death Star level and the Planet Hoth level are just like being in the movies.

Anything with Vin Diesel... as a matter of a fact they shouldn't even be movies just video games.
