Yet another reality tv show is in the pipeline - this time it is searching for a gay/gay-friendly boyband.

According to a report in the Daily Star, the show is being planned to air on Channel 4 or 5. Contestant requirements - they must be "drop dead gorgeous and gay-friendly".In addition they must be able to sing, dance, have personality and fashion sense.

Auditions are apparently pencilled for February and March in Manchester, London and Brighton.

I personally think this is a step back, from the equality world. That the gay community strive for, I’m all for gay friendly pop artists. But they should be no need to find them deliberately. By targeting a band at the gay population all that’s happening is there widening the gap between the different sexualities.

Why do the Gay community need their own Pop Idol? If there was a Pop Idol exclusively for White people for example, the shows creators would be done for discrimination.

If Gay people want to be accepted they shouldnt expect special treatment, but nor should they have to hide their sexuality.
