Have you seen it? If so, what did you think? I rented it last night and I thought it was kind of creepy, but not all that scary. It was more of a drama than a scary movie. All in all though it's a good film! I just thought certain parts weren't believable... like when the aliens just LEAVE. ??? Oh well. What did you think? :)

I was at the drive-in and it was on. But I was asleep in the trunk of the van. Heh. It was the all-nighter... I was sleeping so I could stay up during the movie *I* wanted to watch! Heh.

I loved it, I was freaking out, not so much scary, just things pop out and stuff. I had to hold my friend hand for like half the movie.

Joaquin Phoenix.
It was a cool movie. Very nicely written and directed...I enjoy M. Night Shyamalan's work, he's much more subtle than most filmmakers today. Notice how you don't actually get a good view of the aliens until the end of the movie? That was great. Much more suspenseful that way.

I thought it was really scary. I'm glad it wasn't filled with senseless gore. Suspenfull horror is so much better. I loved it.

I don't think so, Ceri...he was in Gladiator, The Yards, some movie called something the Abbotts, hee hee.
Anyhow...I was disappointed in Signs. I kept hearing how scary it was, how it was so cool how it all "came together" in the end.
Despite being in an open vehicle surrounded by woods at the drive-in with creepy forest sounds all around...I wasn't scared at all. Not a bit! And the ending was a huge letdown, not at all like the director's other works.
I went into it expecting too much, I guess.

I loved the movie "Signs". It was good because it had a little of suspense and mystery.

I heard that alot. I think people were disappointed in the ending because of Shyamalan's other works. Signs didn't end with a huge surprise, a la Sixth Sense or Unbreakable, so people were let down, because they expected to be surprised. Really, I think Shyamalan did it well. People were going into the movie expecting a shock ending, because up until now, that had been the trademark of an M. Night Shyamalan film. With Signs, he broke the trend, probably for his own good. How long can you expect to continue to completely surprise audiences, really?

From what I saw of it, I didn't like it at all. I'm watching the whole thing tomorrow though so maybe its better than I thought.

What I want to know is if these aliens have that reaction to water, then why do they come to a planet made mostlyof water, to harvest people made up of mostly water?
Could you not just spit at it and burn it?

Signs was a pretty good movie, the whole water thing was interesting and it was kinda funny when that Phoenix guy and the children put foil hats over their heads to keep the aliens from reading their minds :)

ok, setting aside the fact that i havent watched the movie and this is totally ruining it for me, but what skeeber pointed out makes complete sense...
is it that obvious in the movie that these aliens are stupid?
and what is it and this guy's movies with water bein the weakness...granted it's only happened twice...but still...talk about unoriginal...
i'd make a sucky critic

At what point are the aliens "stupid"? They never struck me that way.

again..i've never seen the movie but am i getting this straight?
is their weakness water? if so, as skeeber pointed out, why on earth did they come to a planet that was 70% made up of water?
again...correct me if i'm wrong...
but neway...that sounds to me like these aliens were stupid.

I think there's a scene in the movie mentioning something about all the crop circles appearing in areas at least a few miles from any major bodies of water. They don't come to areas with alot of water.
Part of the beauty of the movie is we don't understand the aliens' motives. Why do they pick Earth? We don't know. I think it's more believeable that way, it makes it seem closer to an experience that could actually happen.

I agree with you. I saw how it came together, so to speak, at the end, but it was one of the shittiest movie endings ever. Weak. Very weak.
