The LOTR series is truly brilliant. Anyone can appreciate the script, the effects (stunning), the acting, all of it. Every little detail in this movie was so beautiful and choreographed to perfection. Marvelous films.

The first one was ok but the second....what a long-winded, corny and boring movie! omg for about 3 hours I had to sit through boring battles and naff dialogue (lol how corny was the ending to the Twin Towers?). I haven't read the books (the movies aren't really enticing me to either) but surely they have altered the script because I've read a few poems from the book on poetry sites and none of the dialogue in the movie met the standards of the poems I read.

I just thought that the movie (esp. the second) was far to corny!

How was it corny? You must not have even been trying to absorb yourself in the movie if you thought it was corny. Anyone with half of an imagination can get swept away by those films. Every person I know was begging for more even after three hours.

If you're implying that i'm not a very imaginitive person because I found LOTR corny then that's fine. People have their own opinions. I just thought that part at the end where Sam (that his name?) was going on about how the sun will rise the next day. I just thought that part was corny.

The parts of the movie I liked were those tree guys and that Gollem (right name?) guy, he was cool with his two-sided personality.

How much was the script altered from the book? I'm just curious.

We have to wait another year for the third one?

I have only read the first book...the movie script was pretty accurate to the novel. I personally thought the movie script was an improvement. The romance between Aragorn and Arwen was added: that isn't described in the Fellowship novel.

I know that it wasn't in the first book because myself and two friends read the Fellowship simultaneously, and all three of us believed Arwen was a male character until seeing the movie promotions. They never so much as hinted towards a romance between her and Aragorn.

Return of the King is certain to rock. I am so glad it is coming out the winter of my senior year...boo yah baby, midnight showing!

I, too, prefer the movies. I have only read the first book, but it was simply too...drawn out for me to enjoy. I completely appreciate the thorough quality of Tolkien's authorship: I don't believe an person has ever created such a complete fantasy realm. The movies just took the best of that and made it real, though. I feel dirty saying a movie is better than a book, heh.

^When I first read A Walk to Remember , I thought the movie was better than the book. I thought the book was *gasp* boring. However, I re-read it over the summer and just completely absorbed myself in it and discovered that in it's quiet way, it is a magnificent novel and much better than the film. ;) Anyway... I digress.

I loved the LOTR 2! The effects were amazing and the dialog wasn't as bland as in the first one. I loved the romance too. ;) *sigh* Ohhh Aragon!
