anybody know products that help? i have EXTREMELY curly, frizzy, thick hair- and it seems the only way i can wear my hair down is to load it up with gel & then it gets all plastered down and stuff
well, its more wavy than curly
*note i wash my hair only everyother day & leave conditioner on it for almost 5 mins when i shower*
any advice is appreciated!!

um if you wanna straighten your hair then your gunna have to get a ceramic hair straightener they are REALLY expensie like 100-200$ but SO worth it, like I used to have rellie nasty hair but once I bought one of those from a hair salon it was well worth the money, I almost gave up hope when I got those lil cheap ones from wall mart no tho u gotta get a professional one, they do wonders on ur hair, other then that u can get hair relaxer, it chemically straightens ur hair, but bewere how u use it sometimes it can RELLIE damage your hair.....

thanks, but i used to straighten my hair& i've used professional flat irons- they KILL my hair, plus i don't have the time to straighten, and straight hair doesn't look right on me... so i'm just trying to improve the wavy-ness

then I'd say hair relaxer or hair oils..... hair relaxer is a chemical treatment and depending on how long u leave it in for is how much "relaxing it will do"

I had the same problem. I now use Hot Oils on my hair to strengthen it once a week, and get a deep conditioning treatment once every 2-3 months ($20 or under). I also use a line of products from Fizz-Ease (there are steps -- step 1 the shampoo, step 2 the conditioner, step 3 the serum, step four the styling cream (does not leave you hair stiff, and there is also a spray to enhance your curls while at the same time fighting frizz).
I also bought a ceramic straighten which can straighten my hair AMAZINGLY in 10-15 minutes from it's natural thick, curly state. Mind you, a ceramic straightener is quite pricey.
I also suggest getting you hair "thinned out", any hair stylist/hairdresser should know this term. This also helps it dry fast.
I wash my hair once every 4 days 9though I shower every second day) so my hair can restore it's nature oils (my hairdresser suggested this).
I also altered my diet, certian food such as eating more high protein food (fish, meat, milk, cheese, cereals, etc.), lots of water (8-10 glasses a day), and food high in iron, zinc, copper, vitamin a, vitamin b and vitamin c. The protein strengthens and adds shiny to your hair. Water is the most important because it keeps your hair hydrated, supple, shiny and silky. Iron is needed to help carry oxygen to the hair - without enough iron, hair and its follicles get starved for oxygen (dry). Zinc is necessary for building hair protein and prevents damage/frizz. Copper brings out the best in your hair colour. Vitamin A makes your scalp healthier. These are important for good circulation, strong, supple strands of hair that do not split, and hair growth and colour.
This all seems to be working and my hair is extremely healthy and manageable now.
I hope that helps, good luck. :)

ugh. I know your pain! It takes me 1 hour to blowwave and straiten my hair.
Some products iv'e found to be good to make it curly yet not frizzy are:
Redken Touch control mousse- expensive yes, totally worth it, yes.
A bit of normal mousse and hair gel is good!
Also, best of all and not to mention easiest of all is just plain hair conditioner. Use it once you have dried your hair a bit as a styling substance- don't rince it out till your next shower.

If you want ti straight go ahead and get it straighten at a salon, I used to spend about 2 hours every morning last year straightening my hair and it was bad!

Getting is chemically straightened ruins your hair. It will only make it poofy, frizzier and more damaged in the future.

I have thick curly hair, and I'm not sure if anyone else has it here...but you know after its wet, like out of a shower, its smaller thinner curls? I love those to no end. Their pretty. Anyway, theres this cream called Bouncy curl and I got it at Fantasic Sams. Its really good. It controls the hair, keeps it down but doesn't take the cute curly wave out.
Also, after you get out of the shower braid your hair like one long braid down your back and sleep with it like that so in the morning or whenever you are looking to do your hair, take it out cause the hair dried like that and the hair is thinner, and alot straighter.
I have this oil called "Pink". I am white, so I never used oils before but I use like a penny sized amount everytime I shower and when it dries, it stays taimed and all. I prefer that too. I hoped I helped some.

I have thin wavy hair, but I want it straight. It straightens good when I use a flat iron, but it won't stay that way. My mom won't let me get a perm, she says I don't need it. i never feel like doing anything to my hair anymore. So I usually just wear it curly. Water and pink oil does the trick for me.

Use ceramic straighteners.

I agree. I got a 16 dollar one thinking that would be fine, but it sucks ass! I just use my curling iron to straighten it and even though it's REALLY hard on my hair I still use it. But don't try it because it will make your hair worse than it already is.

this might sound gross or whatever but try to not wash your hair for a week.Everytime you dont wash it oil goes from your face to your hair and it flattens it out.

side note --- take showers every second day though, just don't use product to clean it often, once every 6 days would be great.
if overused, product ruins hair.
