What are some of your favorite documentaries?

Mine:
Dogtown & Z-Boys
I don't even like skateboarding, but this is one of the best films I have ever seen. Just to see what the culture was like back then is worth the price of hiring it alone.

A documentary I saw recently: Devil's Playground, an interesting look at the Amish community and the tradition of rumspringa, the time when an Amish kid is given the chance to experience the outside world before they make the choice to become Amish (or not).

Not the best I've seen, but very good.

Great thread.

Documentary is by far my favorite - espeshally docs focused on Adolf Hitler/The Holocaust/Neo-Nazism.

I won't get into a list of favorites because I'd be typing them out forever, but, I'll name one that really stands out.

Triumph des Willens - 1935.
This documentary is hard to review because it is fundamentally three things; an incredibly detailed account of one of the most significant movements in political history, a brilliantly-made propaganda film on a technical level, and an utterly loathsome celebration of an obscene and contemptuous fascist organisation. It is both intimate and epic; to see Hitler so close up is undoubtedly fascinating. Riefenstahl's film making style is inspired and her multiple cameras capture every amazing scene.
