being out in the sun these past couple of weeks i have started to get annoyed of the amount of people i see burnt. is it just me?

i have friends that are white as a ghost out in the sun with factor 15 on burning themselves and not really minding as they think after the redness has gone down they will be brown. i cannot stand being burnt, i only have been a couple of times. i find it itchy and it makes me feel ill. i have been having my factor 30 on and im medium skinned. surely all this burning can't be doing them any good, i really do not see the need to burn to a crisp to be brown (which will probably only last a week anyway) i'm not excactly a health freak but i can't see the attraction to sunbathing for hours on end doing nothing just to burn. it's relaxing for a while but i just get bored and want to go do some watersports or something.

i know someone is going to argue with me :)

You have to get a base coat. If you burn and do not peel, you will tan. If you peel, then you need to start from the beginning. You're not going to go outside and get tan the first day and expect to not burn. I'm Italian and I'm fair skin. However, I burn before getting dark.
