At my school, we can wear what we want but we have a motto "If you feel a breeze, check your B's" (Which means you can't show your breasts, butt, or back)
BUT...I think we should wear uniforms. I would love to just wake up and put on a uniform instead of wearing my own clothes, because I think it would be more comfy and also people get judged on what they wear.
Do you think schools should require you to wear uniforms? Or do you think that they should let you dress how you want?

I wouldn't have cared if we were required to wear a uniform in high school. I mean, it's school. I'm not really there to look fantastic, I'm there to learn something.

We had to wear uniform, it's a vile bright green jumper but it's kinda cute in an endearing way.
It does make it a lot easier instead of having to choose clothes every day.

Even if schools have uniforms people still get judged.
and it shouldn't matter what you wear to school anyways.
First semester of this year when I was there, I worse sweats and no make up.
'cause it doesn't matter what you wear, no one gives a damn and if they do, they're stupid.
You're suppose to be learning not critiquing everyone's clothing choices.

I have a school uniform, it's okay I guess.
You get bored of it after a while.

Nothing wrong with a uniform (just have it cut to fit after it enters your possession). Dress it up with a pocket square (if a guy) or a nice belt or somelike if a girl.
Judging a person based on what they wear is dumb. I critique by fit, not brand. I've been chastised for not wearing a cheap, commonplace logo despite the fact that I regularly wear Zegna and Armani. :P
Goes to show how sartorially obtuse most persons are (and I've made it known)!

i kinda want to wear a uniform, it'll show creativity... in an odd way. it shows how well your can style yourself even when you're limited.
and because people wont be judged on what brand their clothes are, y'know?

i loved having a uniform
We were very limited in our school uniform- black trousers/skirt (no visble zips, outer pockets, no jeans, no patterned tights, skirt no shorter than knee length), plain white shirt (no visible vest top underneath), then the school jumper (dark blue and hideous), completely black plain shoes (no patterns, heels, etc). No make up, no piercings other than two studs per earlobe, no unnatural hair colours, no shaved heads...
Life's a lot more interesting now that I don't have to wear one :P

I had a horrible dark green/snot polo. With the itchiest black v-neck sweater known to man as my school uniform.
It was better than the shirt and tie combo we had before though.
No piercings or makeup, unnatural hair colours/styles, non-existant shoe choice with 1 inch heel max, no straps, patterns, etc.
I got detention for having grey socks rather than white once.
No sign of creativity or individuality in sight. Unless you were one of the abnormally short or fat kids who the uniform wouldn't fit, or the poor kids who couldn't afford it. They just got kind of outcast, and wore a shirt. Plus, the uniform was expensive. And you had to have at least two sets, even if you planned on wearing the same stuff al week, something was bound to get dirty.
Yes, life is much better now I don't have to deal with that.
Except nearly all the clothes I own are covered in some sort of paint now instead.

I was required to wear a uniform all through school, and it was fabulous.

personally i'd rather uniform, b/c then you never have to worry about what to wear. Everyone's wearing the same pleated skirt anyway!

With a uniform there's a billion unwritten rules on how you wear it so being judged on what you wear doesn't really apply.
My school had uniform, I refuse to believe anyone there believed it was better.

i wish i still had to wear uniform cause people dont make you feel bad of you if you wear the same outfit twice in a week.

I miss my uniform. In the morning all I had to worry about was whether today was a skirt or trousers day and where my tie was. Easy peasy.
Our uniform wasn't bad and you could get away with lots. White shirt, a tie and the school blazer for everyone and girls could wear a navy blue or black skirt (nothing below the knee nor anything higher than 3 inches above it) or black /navy blue trousers.
I hated it when I had to wear it but getting ready was really a lot simpler then.

either way you're still going to get judged. If you don't have a uniform it' what you wear, and with uniforms, it's how you wear it. I personally don't think they do much good to stop people from judging eachother.

What's with all the judging? Not meaning to veer off-topic, but... Based on personal experiences, and from that which I've read on these threads, most shop at the same stores (I refer to them as 'The Big Four' - A&F, HT, AE, and Aero), so what's the point?
I've been told I should wear Abercrombie more often, though I've never been given an intelligent reason why (though I know about the perceptions surrounding the brand). Again, I critique based on fit, not brand (though I do enjoy fine quality). Am I missing something?

My school has uniform but it's pretty flexible. It's only requirements are a white/black shirt, black trousers, or a skirt, or black jeans and the tie.

i hate uniforms. i had to wear it in junior high
if your so worried about being jugded then thats your problem
go earn some extra $ to fit in or w/e
I for one, like to have my own style.
They recently voted for uniforms at my school, so we're using them next year. I actually like the idea so far, because it's not strict persay (Polo school colors, jeans and whatever shoes you want but closed) so it still allows for some personality. Still, I think that if you loose your personality because you wear uniforms, you didn't really have a personality to begin with!
As for placing people on equal ground, I don't think uniforms do that. There's still class distinctions in school and nothing will change that. :/
I just think it's easier, and it lets me wear my best clothes for better occasions!
