My hair is curly/frizzy and is a BIG MESS TT_TT but I need a new hairstyle (as in, cut, color, etc) for next year, since I'm sorta going for a makeover, it's going to be my last year (12th grade) so my skin is a medium/olive-ish skin tone and my hairstyle for a long time has just been, a high ponytail, no bangs or anything, everything's just pulled back, it's worked for me, but it's time for a change.
Ideas?

What sort of length do you want? How high maintenance can you handle? Is your face round or oval? (There's a pretty significant difference.)

well I guess its more oval, and my hair right now reaches my shoulders, and I'm planning on keeping it pretty mid-length for a while, perhaps a bit longer but nothing too long, or else it'd be impossible to manage. I can blow dry it in a straight way, if that makes sense.

I was more thinking of how short are you comfortable with. Perhaps something that draws inspiration from here (http://short-hairstyles-pictures.blogspot.com/2008/08/short-shags-hairstyles.html). Without seeing your a photo I can't really suggest anything specific though. Or if you're looking for something slightly longer (with less styling) then this (http://www.latesthaircutstyles.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/kim-kardashian-330x494.jpg) might be more up your alley.
If you're pretty skinny I think this (http://www.latesthaircutstyles.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/michelle-williams-330x492.jpg) looks pretty attractive though it'd probably be quite high maintenance.
Also, I really have to suggest going to a really really classy hair dressers if you want to change your cut and you don't know every exact detail you need. It may cost an extra $50 or something, but at these places you can just come in 10 minutes early and talk to them about what you want, show them a photo (or several) and they'll figure out what works for you specifically, with way more skill than we could even if you did show us photos. After you get the exact style you want you can go back to your regulars (if it isn't the classy place) and all but if you're going for makeover it's worth the expense.

Yeah I like those hairstyles, thanks so much =] I'll take your advice on the hair dressers, hopefully it'll turn out okay. I'll post some pictures when I'm done, probably not anytime soon though.

Usually round oval faces look best with shorter hair rather then people with longer faces look better when longer hair with bangs.
