Well, I have really dark hair, almost black but still brown. I've tried putting highlights in it and dying it, but it never stays for more than a week or so. The stylist I go to says that my hair is just too dark to diie, but I know that isn't true, My mom is the same way but she's had her hair every color of the rainbow. Does anyone know what to do to make the highlight/color stay longer?

Go buy some of that conditioner that you generally get with home hair dying kits. Start asking different stylists/colorists for their opinions on this, too. I'm sure there are some tricks that they'll tell you.

I've done the conditioner thing. It just makes a few days difference. But I'll try asking around

Thats what I had to do,
My hair is really dark too and I wanted to add some brighter color (currently electric blue). I had to bleach it. If you dont bleach all the time it wont fry your hair. And I think its totally worth it <3
