So about a year ago I decided I would try and dye my own hair from light brown, to a dark brown. Well the dark brown turned out black. So I didn't want to dye it anymore so I just let it fade out and it's now back to almost my original colour. I want to have it dyed a really light brown, but I don't want to get my hair bleached. Is there anyway to lighten your hair without having it bleached?

I've been back & forth from black to several different shades of blonde 3 or 4 times...so one thing I would do is use to get rid of the black hair dye is Oops Permanent Hair Dye Remover...you can get it for about $12 at CVS or Walgreens. It restores your hair to the color it was before it was dyed. I still had to bleach my hair after that, to make it as light as I wanted it, but since you only want yours to be light brown, you should be able to use the light brown hair dye immediately after you use Oops.

And it hasn't done anything funny to your hair?
Thanks. :)

Well, the bleaching of course makes it dry, but I use alot of conditioner, so it really isn't too bad.
The Oops product shouldn't harm your hair though...it even says you can re-dye hair immediately after you use it..

Bleaching isn't all that bad, just DON'T do it yourself. If you do just make sure to use a weekly restoring hair conditioner.

I would never try and bleach my hair myself.:eek2:
But my hair goes through a lot. I straighten it at least once a day and it's dyed and streaked quite often so Im afriad my hair isn't healthy enough to bleach it?
