View Full Version : A book you would love to see as a film.

Self-explanatory, really.
Any books that you've read you would love to see committed to film?
I'd have to say Jennifer Gov't by Max Barry, which got optioned a couple years ago and still hasn't been produced. Or maybe Philip K. Dick's Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch.
You?

ANIMORPHS! The TV show was stupid as hell, but a movie (OR MULTIPLE!) would kick ass! Especially the Andelite chronicles! WOOOOOO!

They've screwed up in some fashion every book I've liked when they've put it to film.
If they could get it right, maybe The Godmakers by Herbert.
There is lots of them but ever since I was a kid I've wanted to see what it would be like if they made a movie based on The Giver by Lois Lowry

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold... that book touched me in a way that no other has, but the movie would be kind of graphic, and id be hysterically crying throughout the whole thing, it would be sort-of depressing also, so i highly doubt that anyone would make it into a movie.

I read about 70 pages of Lovely Bones and hated it. I thought it was sappy trash, and didn't know what the big deal was (everyone was lauding and reading it).
And The Giver now that I think about it, I also would love to see that book as a film. I think it would be great, considering the black and white imagery mixed with the colors when he begins to "awake."

Also, whoever said The Lovely Bones..It was an amazing book - I loved it, but I couldn't see it being made into a movie.

I was going to say that.
A nice little book, the characters are so well formed you could just lift it from the pages.
The Secret History - Donna Tartt.
This is an amazing story and also one of my favourite books of all time. So all I can say is if they ever tried to make this into a film, they'd better not fuck it up.

a fantasy novel.
the film industry is lacking in large-scale fantasy movies; and one would have thought there'd be at least one in the wake of The Lord of the Rings' success.
maybe Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin or Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind.

Why make a sequel to an already fine movie? (And further more, why write a sequel?) I would just soon as say do something totally original with the divine trinity (boyle, mcgregor, hodge), seeing as they already did Shallow Grave and Trainspotting together, and were supposed to do The Beach.. which were all great films.
There was enough closure to the first novel/film where a sequel wasn't needed, and imo, it'll ruin the characters for folks who haven't read the novel/s.

check that site out, it has a picture of Liana Jordan, who really isn't that pretty if you ask me. They also have a picture of the girl cast as Katie Farkas.
