The author of the book, hated the original and expressed interest to have it remade by Tim Burton, because Dahl really loved James & The Giant Peach, another movie version of a story of his, done by Tim Burton.

After he died, they continued to carry out with the project with the blessing of his estate.

I adore Tim Burton movies :) and Johnny Depp is just so nice to look at so ill have to go see it...

Also, Dahl could not have "loved James And The Giant Peach" as you put because Roald Dahl died in November 1990...James And The Giant Peach was made in 1996.

I just watched the trailor for it, looks just like the old one, except a lot better.

I saw the preview last night when I saw Ocean's 12. It scared the shit out of me, but I want some nifty glasses like Willy Wonka.

He's hair looks a tad feminine in the second picture of him...

Charlie and the chocolate factory was brilliant, no one, i repeat NO ONE will beat Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. He was/is the perfect man for the role, i like Johnny Depp, but why did he have to help them murder a classic?

I actually watched the original for the first time ever a few months back. I liked it, thought a few of those kids could have deserved a slap but Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka scared the hell out of me and as for those oompa lumpas......

A warped kid's film, wasn't your Mary Poppins or your Bedknobs and Broomsticks but was still good.

I think it's going to be awesome. I am a fan of the original, but Tim Burton is the fricking man. This one will be more derranged than the original. It's going to be great.

I honestly cant remember how the book described them, i haven't read it in awhile. But i can remember thinking the first oompa loompa's were like the book at the time i seen them, now they just look like some weird type of **** star space explorer.

Let's see, original was:
Green hair
Orange Skin
Brown shirts
White overalls
White/Brown striped socks/shoes
Oh yeah, and white eye brow's lol.

The new one is:
Black hair
Orange skin
All over red PVC suit
with what seems to be a black/white body stocking
and black shoes

Now i know willy wonka is all about celebrating the silly/ridiculous and i honestly felt the original oompa loompa's captured the spirit of that, this new one really does just look like a lame try without any improvements.

P.S.
The book is my favourite book of all time, and most of my top ten would be Roald Dahl, i have read nearly all of his books, he's ace.

I have to agree here, the song's in CATCF are extremely catchy and are a great addition to the movie. The difference between CATCF and a musical is that it's not all singing, most musicals have the characters singing even when they are just talking, where as CATCF only has the occasional song.
