Google it , make-up artistry colleges for whatever area you live in.
I'm going for special effects make-up here in ontario and you can obtain a diploma.

I don't understand how in America you go to University (or College) to do Fashion Design or learn how to do Make Up.

Just seems odd... here it is much more academic.

You say that as if Universities/colleges are a joke.. Regarding make up, it isn't a "serious" major. They don't offer it at any university to my knowledge. Unless it's a minor course in something, which I still doubt. It's something you take a training school. Along with hair styling. You need training in those things. .. As for fashion design, what's wrong with that? It's an art. You learn how to create. How to pull inspiration. What fabrics work with what. How to sew. How to construct. The history of clothing styles. How to make patterns. About different fabrics. Different techniques. I don't get why there wouldn't be schooling for Fashion Design

Im not bagging out fashion design or anything! It's just strange that you do it at a University.

It's just College/University costs A LOT of money... if you could go to a community college or another institution wouldn't it be better?

Really? I thought TAFE only offered it?

Well.. it's not like a Bachelors degree, i'd prefer to go to TAFE and only pay $900 a year as opposed to University fees.

Employers here look for things like that though. If you went to a top notch (as well as top priced) school for fashion design for 4 years and intern under a great designer for another.. there's a very high chance your resume would get placed at the top of the pile. Yet.. if you go to a community college and apply for a job along with Mr. Parson's School of Design, don't be too surprised if you won't get hired... No matter how much talent you have.

That kinda sucks if thats how it works in the US.

Here, you get the job if you have the right experience, degree and talent. Not what school you went to...
