Just be yourself.
What do you mean by childish?
Pictures might help...
Hmm, some stuff I wore as a freshman:
- low rider jeans
- tight fitting jeans
- fitted tee shirts
- clogs (slip on shoes)
- hoodies (fitted and baggy)
- plain flip flops
- headbands
- layered necklaces
- bangle bracelets
Stuff I wear now as an upcoming senior:
- fitted hoodies
- fitted tee shirts
- layered tops
- blue jean skirts
- leggings
- plain flip flops
- decorative flip flops
- wedges
- tight fitting jeans
- low rider jeans
- tight fitting capris
- peace bracelets
- class ring
- strappy dresses
- sun dresses
- low heels
- hair clips and barrets
My main advice is to just be yourself.
If your clothes are "childish", buy more "grow up" clothes with your same taste and style you like.
Try wearing more flattering tops, tighter fitting clothes (but not skanky tight), and tighter, lower jeans.

I would personally pick up a few magazine
like seventeen and teen vouge.
look at the high fashion sections, and try to make them
into something wearable. i'm going into my junior year
and here's my fall fashion list. it shouldnt matter what grade your
going into, because the fashion should be the same:
pants: (spend the most on jeans)
form fitting jeans
a good pair of skinny jeans
a skirt that can work with everything
from leggings, to stockings, to bare legs.
get a good form fitting hoodie
not to be superficial, but probably one from
a brand name store (ex: abercrombie/hollister).
they are a bit more expensive, but its definitly worth it.
a few graphic artsy tee-shirts.
things this fall seem to be heading in
the artsy direction. also grab a polo shirt.
all thats left now is a cute handbag
to tie it all together. or if you prefer,
a good quality, but cute schoolbag.
hope this helps (:
(ps- i was looking at cosmogirls
latest issue while doing this. it has
a lot of back to school stuff in it)

Don't waste all your money on tee shirts and hoodies. Most of the time they make you look like a scrub. Go for more flattering mature clothing. For example try to invest in a quality cashmere sweater rather than a sweatshirt.

I have to wear a uniform at my school....but I still love fashion (not high, but nomel fashion)
I suggest staying away from the plain, fitted t shirts/hoodies and jeans. Ya they are normel, but its what everyone else wears. A few are fine for lazy days, but dont over do it. Go to stores that arent big brands name (my favs are forever 21, wet seal, charlotte rouse, etc...) and try to pick clothes that look good on you and flatter you but not something everyone else is going to wear.
As long as its flattering, youll look good =]
For jewelry, if your wearing something plain, go for big jewelry. But if your top is pretty decorated, stick to bracelets or a smaller necklace. Simple silver hoops can make outfits also.
Get a few pair of cute, colorful shoes - vary the colors
Same goes with purses
Hope this helps a bit

Just wear more casual clothes. Don't go into the whole Hollister or A&F trend. It's stupid and overrated. I think Wet seal and Forever 21 are good myself. Just bc they aren't in, doesn't mean you can't wear it. Don't wear all pink, cartoon characters, and so much graphic tee's with pictures of flowers and stuff. Pretty much if you get rid of those, you'll be fine.

Well first you better brace yourself for your worst year of your entire school career...On a lighter note, just stock up on some great fitting jeans in a style you like, tee-shirts, polos, layering tank tops & zipups/hoodies.

Buy random shit from Forever 21, Wet Seal, and Charlotte Russe, and you'll be set.

Well, if it were me: no jeans, polos, lots of trousers (don't wear shorts), a nice belt, good shoes, nice sweaters, a few good jackets for each season in different colours, and no visible logos.
Depending on your budget, start at Gap and work your way to custom tailors on Savile Row and Naples.

i personally dont care for A&F or Hollister (I mean i'm in college so I'm kind of over it!) but in high school it's REALLY popular, especially freshman-junior year. the clothes are cheap ($20 or less for clearance shirts which are basically the same as full price) and $49.50 for HCO jeans. I work at hollister and we have a huge section in the stockroom o $6.90 shirts so ask someone who works there if they can get some $%6.90 stuff for you in whatever size and we're not bitches so we'll be happy to help :)
if you want to dress like the seniors, you have to shell out some cash - 7fam and r&r jeans, juicy sweats, ed hardy, coach etc. go to nordies or bloomies and ask a salesgirl (in "yes" section at bloomies, "tbd" or "bp juniors" section for nordstrom) o help. they get paid commission so they'll basically kiss your ass
