I'm thinking about buying myself a straight iron, because well, straight perming in America costs way too much (not to mention there are no salons that would do it around my area).
I'm a bit wary of buying an iron though. I looked around a little, and there's huge price differences.
Is there a notable difference between those that cost 20 or 30 dollars and those that cost 70~100?
My hair is short, and straightish. It's definitely not curly, but I have the odd wave here and there that drive me crazy.
If anyone has experience with straight irons, I'd love imput.

I think there's a massive difference between cheap straighteners and ones that cost more money. I have really long hair that's difficult to tame alot. I used to have cheaper straighteners and they'd just about do it, then I got GHD's and they're awesome. I don't straighten a whole lot but they're so much easier to use and my hair stays straight for ages. I recommend paying more money for better results and i've had them for a few years and they haven't broken yet (touch wood).

I use these straighteners which are a make called GA.MA italy.

Thats a picture.
Definitely wouldnt recommend GHDs, they do a good job but mines broke and alot of my friends broke (its because they all have rubbish swivel cords) and the hair salons around here say not to spend the money.
GHDs are about £100 ( i dont know what that is in dollars)
GA.MA italy are about £40 and they do the same job, they're amazing for £40
Usually though with straighteners you get what you pay for, £20 wont get you a very good pair usually
Hope i helped :] x

It depends on your hair type as to which type of straightner you will want to get.
If you have really curly hair that is hard to straighten, go with the more expensive straightners.
However, if your hair is pertty straight as it is, go with the cheaper ones. They'll get the job done.

Thanks everyone.
I'm not ready to spend 100 dollars though, since it seems like a cheaper one will suffice for my short straightish hair. And I wash my hair every other day, so I don't need it to last that long.
Probably gonna go for one around 40... Do brands have a difference?

cheap straightener = lower quality
more expensive = higher / nicer quality
easy enough ?

Get a chi or ghd.
It's worth it to splurge because a shitty one will fuck yer hair up.

chi's are really good plus they don't really dry out your hair , they go on sale for pretty cheap like 99$

i've got a wet 2 straight.
it was like either 40 or 60 bucks.
my mom ordered it.
it works great and i've had it for like a year and a half.
i know lots of people that have them and no complaints.

no problem.
you have to be careful though.. lol.

Owwwww. Well since I blow dry my hair, I guess it wouldn't really be a problem.

Invest in an expensive flat iron. The cheaper ones from drug stores damage your hair and gives it breakage that is how my hair is now it has bad breakage due to cheap flat irons. Protect your hair don't damage it with cheap drug store flat irons like me.

Tbh, I have pink GHD's.
They straighten my hair pretty well.
And a lot of my friends have them.
They cost about £100 ... but they are worth it.
