I tried watching an episode and I guess it was a bad episode to start on, I didn't get it at all. What the hell is the gate, exactly? Where is their gate and do they go to parallel universes or something?

i used to wath that show all the time and i thought it was great. Now they ame out with something called "stargate Atlantis" which is pretty stupid.
