I seriously do not like the American's take on reality TV at all. Its so utterly fake and staged.

Reality tv was cool when it first came out, but now nearly everything on tv is reality tv, and it sucks. I did like Paradise Hotel and I'm still into American Idol though.

American TV destroys good ideas. A few years ago with Who Wants to be a Millionaire premiered and then hordes of game shows where you could win big money spawned and killed games shows (again). Now, American TV has destroyed reality programs (exception- MTV)

The 'Average Joe' thing is laughable. It's just so, SO terrible and this is coming from the Reality TV freak!

Pretty much the only thing 'reality' I will even glance at is Real World, Road Rules and the first few episodes of American Idol.

Yes it is, makes you kind of wonder why they call it reality tv.

What did we ever watch before reality tv came about? I carn't remember. What i do know is that i don't watch much TV now because of it.

Also, before Reality TV was given the name Reality TV, what did we call the programes that now fall into the line called Reality TV?

It isn't "Reality TV", it's Reality-Based TV. That makes a big difference. Either way, the only thing I watch that falls under that category would be The Real World. But even that isn't as good as it use to be.
