I think many people who have seen the remake had their minds so wrapped around the Gene Wilder version that they didn't appreciate the newer one which is actually pretty sad. The remake was a lot closer in story line to the book and I just absolutely loved it. Johnny Depp did a good job at playing Wonka and I was just wondering what everyone else thought of the original, the remake and which film they prefered over the other? Also, who do you think played their character impressively? Who was a let down? etc.
Discuss.

The original shits all over the remake.
Johnny Depp is nothing to Wilder.

its all about Gene Wilder. even if the new one is more like the book, Wilder is Willy Wonka

The way I see it...if Broderick can't properly relive a Wilder role, what makes anyone think that Depp can?

I love The Producers with a passion. I dont think it is a movie that people can go ga-ga over Wilder. 12 Tony Awards...nuff said.
And as for the remake of Willy Wonka, I did not like the acting. The costumes and sets were great-I even went as Depp's Wonka for Halloween, but it surely isnt one of his best roles.

Eh, I didn't like the new Producers.
Zero and Wilder had such good chemistry in the original, and Broderick and Lane just didn't recapture it for me.

IT IS NOT A REMAKE. Both are separate film adaptations of the same children's book (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) by Road Dahl.
Nows for my opinions. Burton's was very interesting. It had some nice delicious dark comedy. Johnny Depp's Wonka was wonderfully done, and quite fun to watch. The Oompa was the most annoying feature of any movie ever. TERRIBLE.
Willy Wonka is just pure classic whimsy. Owns Burton's attempt.

I actually prefer the newer one compared to the original. The original bored me.

I like the new one I was never a big Gene Wilder fan the original Wonka always lost my attention after a certain point the other than the original Ompa Lompas I could care less for the first Wonka adaption. The Johnny Depp one had that dark comedy tone to it and saw Wonka as I envisioned him a strange wacked out man living underground with midgets. WHo is going to be witty and comedic after years of that kind of loneliness and drudgery comeon.
I also liked the new producers considering the fact its an entirely different movie from the original made by Mel Brooks cause the one with Matthew Broderick and Lane was a Broadway musical adaption.
If you don't like Broadway your not gonna like it and they had great chemistry considering the fact they have performed it together before on stage.

The new Producers was entirely Mel Brooks, as was the musical itself.
There are certain musicals that I like, and as a musical, The Producers is good (obviously, considering the number of Tonys it won).
But compared to the original 1968 film, I'll take the film anyday.

For me, i could care less about which was closer to the book. I loved Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Gene Wilder was a better Willy Wonka. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory just wasn't as cool. You gotta admit Willy Wonka had the better Oompa Loompa song. I prefer all the original actors playing the characters.

I watched this movie before I ever saw the first one made, and I still like the Gene Wilder version better.
I dunno, I just didn't like it.

the original isbetter and had more meaning and the new one is retarded.
see whats fucked up and stupid about the new one is the title of the movie
the original is called willy wonka and the chocolate factory
and the new one is called charlie and the chocolate factory, but in this new one its still wonkas factory.
at the end of the original one, wonka told charlie that he was gona own the factory. im thinking out of all these years they finaly made a movie with charlie grown up and owning the factory.
and it would of been kool if charlie told a lil history of the place and had a picture of wonka on display out of respect.
they fucked it up in a sick way and it bothers the fuck out of me

The book, however, was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They changed the title for the original movie.

Nothing could beat the 1971 version.
I only liked the very beggining of Burtons. From there it turned to shit. Not to mention Depp looked like a horrible cross between Michael Jackson and Pee Wee Herman. Oh, and don't even get me started on the Oompa Loompas.
Also, Wonka's 'candy land' was in no way enticing or even remotely resembled a land made of candy and his invention room looked so much like a set populated by cheap plastic pieces it wasn't even funny. As far as exteriors go Wonka's Factory was impressive as was the Bucket family's home though.

the origional of course....the new one...idk, i thought willy wonka came off more creepy pedophilic than enigmatic.
