Watched Crimson Tide on the telly last night and it really is an good slice of Tony Scott before he descended into the land of ga-ga editing and enjoyable all round... well except one bit that sticks in my craw.
That bit being the dialogue in the climactic showdown between Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington. I'm not sure if it was one of the Tarantino penned segments (I know the Star Trek bit is), but suddenly the two leads launch into a race metaphor about horses just so Denzel can make a pithy comeback that feels like it came straight out of Passenger 57 cut-scene. It feels at odds with the characters as presented for the rest of the film.
