My hair is really thick and it goes wavy and boofy and frizzy. I've just had it cut to a medium length, but that didn't really help at all. I can straighten it, but because its so thick and theres so much of it, it takes at least an hour. Is there anything anyone can suggest to help de-volumise my hair? A product of some kind? a way to style it? anything lol

well, i have hair like that too, so what i do is i use leave in conditioners after i wash my hair
you probably shouldnt wash your hair every day, but every other day, so it dosent dry out
to straighten it faster start from the top and work your way through the layers, and with thick hair, youd need a straightener that gets to like at least 350-400 degrees

Yeah. I'm mixed (I'm mainly white but my dad was half black), so my hair is almost exactly what you're describing. Everything that darklover said should work--only wash your hair like every other day, use a leave-in conditioner (I suggest Ganier Fructis or Aussie or Paul Mitchell--those worked for me) and get a high-temp straightener. Also, you'll want to use a smoothing solution on your hair during and after straightening it, so that it won't get dry. (Paul Mitchell Super Skinny is made specifically for this, although it's a tad expensive) Also, don't straighten your hair too much or it will make things much worse and your hair will become very dry and damaged with a lot of split ends.
You can always try getting it chemically straightened too, but that would cost a bit much if you don't have income (I don't know how old you are or if you have a job or anything) and chemically straightening doesn't always work and it could damage your hair.
Hope I helped!! =]

I have medusa curly type hair, its seriously ridiculous. This is what I do to my hair to get it under control.
1) never brush your hair, untangle it with your fingers, or comb it in the shower (starting at the roots working your way up)
2) air dry your hair, blow drying it will just cause friz
3) Dont shampoo every day, do it every other day... You can condition every day though. Washing everyday causes your hair to be damaged therefore causing more friz.
4) Using mouse and other products strictly for curly hair. The Frieda ones are good, citrus moose are good, and the marc anthony ones are amazing.
5) Change up your shampoos, so your hair doesnt get use to them
6) Deep condition at least one time a week to help maintain the frizz
7) sleeping with your hair wet also causes a lot more damage.
I hope this helps a little bit.

all of what people said can help u, except using citric products i dont understand. they damage ur hair.
anyways, u may want to think of getting a shearing (or thinning) comb to make it less thick.
i would also recommend instead of "chemically straightening", which btw is only for people with perms, a curl remover. they are simple and i bought one yesterday for $8 at Sally's beauty supplies, but they are available at any beauty dealer. though if ur hair is very thick u might have to do it twice, 3 months apart, this generally works so long as u do it correctly.
when u straighten ur hair with ur flat iron, try sectioning ur hair into lairs to make it seems thinner and sleeker. it may take some time, but the over all result is better than just dragging it through (and damaging) ur hair.
hope this helped! goodluck.
