So.. I've seriously been thinking about purchasing a Chi straightener, but i need someone to please convince me that they really work and are worth the money.
Because I really don't want to go blow $110.00 of my own money on something that doesn't even work.
But I mean if it does work good then I'll be using it everyday, so it would be worth it.
I just don't know. If it's worth it?
Does anyone have a Chi. Please tell me your opinions and thoughts.
Thanks!:)

coming from a guy's point of view (no homo) i used to burrow my cousin's to straighten my hair. i dont use it anymore since i cut my hair a few weeks back, but i have to say its pretty legit. yea it is kinda pricey, but in the end you get your moneys worth.
i think my cousin has had hers for around 2 or 3 years...still in good shape. just take care of it (put it away after your done, keep it away from the sink, dont drop it...) and should last you a long good amount of time.

You don't HAVE to get a Chi straightener.
I bought a ceramic straightener from Conair for $230HK (around $30US)
It works well.
Seriously, you don't have to pay so much money just for a hair straightener. Just make sure that the plates are ACTUALLY ceramic and not cheap painted iron or some shit like that.

:eek2: sorry to burst your bubble, but Conair doesn't have any true ceramic panel straighteners for $30
you just paid for painted metal, like you said

I wouldnt get a Chi. From my experience they are not as good as GHD's.
The GHD Styler is like $300 AU ($270US) and can do curls, flicks, straightens, waves etc. SOOOO good for your hair and is tourmaline ceramic.

No, it's truely ceramic.
And no, it's not painted metal. I can see and feel the difference..
Don't tell me shit if you don't know anything about hair straighteners.
If it was painted metal, my hair would've fallen out by now and the dye job I got yesterday would've caused my hair to melt.
And to clarify, I've had 3 hair straighteners since 2005.
The first one, I don't remember the brand, but I made sure it was ceramic (it has a different texture than painted metal)
The second one was Conair, which costed $230HK, was also ceramic.
My current one is Revlon, which costed $275HK, is ceramic.
I've been straightening my hair at least 5 times a week for almost three years.
I know how straighteners work and how to use them without causing my hair to fall out.
I'm not trying to start an arguement,
I'm just trying to prove that your statement is bullshit.

yes...good way to not start an argument, by telling a person they don't know what the heck they're talking about :scared:

Wow. Now I'm considering getting one. How long do they last though, do you think, if you take good care if it?

Hm, I've had mine almost a year, but the review sites say that they last around three years if you don't coil the cord around the straightener, because that'll make it short out.

i've had my chi for about a year, and i love it so much.
my hairdresser recommended it for me because i have extremely thick and curly hair.
if you have thin, or wavy hair, i don't think it'd be that necessary to spend that money, you may as well get a cheaper one.
plus, i got mine on sale for 50 dollars, so try and look online on ebay, or look in lots of places, it might be cheaper in other stores.

i'm thinking about a Chi straightener. i have an ISO straightener, and just one year after i got it, it's starting to break into little pieces on the sides.. pulling bits of my hair out :(

Definitely get one. My cousin who works at a salon got hers for $80 but she brought it over to my house and i was addicted. They work very very well and can last a few years.

I've only ever had Chi straighteners.
They last seriously forever. I had my old one for four years, and I only stopped using it because I stepped on it so the plastic cracked.
Now I have the limited edition pink and gold one, and I'm still in love.
They're fantastic!
Oh! And they also curl your hair really well.
Although I think they're only worth it if you have really thick hair, like me.
You could be fine with a cheaper straightener if you have thin hair.
Just make sure you stay ceramic.

My stylist told me not to get one because you can't control the heat on it??
Instead she told me to get one that they have at Sally's for $90. I forgot what it's called but it is AMAZING and I am INLOVE with it.
It only takes about 10 seconds to completely heat up and it doesn't fry my hair at alllllllll and only takes one stroke to straighten a pretty thick strand.
LOVE it.
I'll post what it's called later.
but my hair isn't THAT curly and thick.. just very messy. so if you have super thick and difficult hair then yeah.. you should probably get the CHI.

Around 35 minutes.
I like my hair pin straight, but I can get it straight in about twenty minutes.

Chis are really good, but you can get some just as good, if not better, for a cheaper price.
I own an GVD from Sallys. It cost $80 and works great.
My hair is a poofball and it straightens it out perfect without any lumps or waves.
