So what do you think?
Sunbeds, a waste of time and dangerous to your health; or a fashion necessity and harmless?

I haven't used them as i dont need to but apparently they are very bad for your health and even using them just once will greatly increase your chances of getting cancer. So i'd advise you not to there are other ways.

of course tanning beds are dangerous :retard:
beauty is in the eye of the beholder, y'know.
if people feel they need color on their skin to be more confident then so be it.
their skin, their choice.

They're dangerous and i've never used one. I don't use fake tan either but I would use that over a sunbed any day.

i use them to help get rid of bad track tan lines because i hate having a sock tan and sports bra tan with a spaghetti strap dress and sandals. I was afraid to use them at first but when i first used t i realized how relaxing they are. And i don't really care how bad they are for your health. I'm going to die sooner or later so why not.

Ive never used one, iwas just curious as to what ppl thought. Im incredibly pale, so pale in fact that my boyfriend asked me the other day whether i was wearing white tights... But i wouldn 't change it for the world. The only reason I asked was because today a few of my friends went to a sun bed shop thingy and i waited for them and made out like i was the only person in the whole world that thought they are dangerous.

i dont think they're as dangerous as people are making them out to be. i actually saw a clip on some news channel about them actually providing viatmins for you. but i definitely dont think theyre a necessity. or "harmless'.

there is a law that people can only have 1 tanning session a day. an average smoker could easily chain smoke their way through a pack a day if they have the desire to do so

Yeah they help your body produce vitamin D. It actually is the bodies best intake of vitamin D. Helps your immune system so you don't get sick as often/ at all.
I wish tanning beds weren't bad for you, even though i'm a guy, i would totally use one if they weren't bad for your health, especially since I had a melanoma scare a month ago. (my derm thought i had melanoma, but it turned out to be a harmless thing)

i tan for about a month before summer comes.
mostly so i don't get burned like fuck at the beginning of summer.
i know they're bad, but they're not THAT bad.
it's not like they're are all kinds of commercials and shit talking about how many people die from them.
like cigarettes.
but whatever, i'm not here to argue.

Incredibly dangerous!!!
I watched a documentary of an Australian girl who used a sun bed when she was 16 for a couple of sessions and unfortunatly she got skin cancer years later. She died a horrible death and way to young. She cried through the whole documantry begging woman (or men I guess...) not to ever use a sunbed. a week after the documentry showed she died I think.
If you want Vitamin D, get it from natural sunlight but in saying that natural sun is still bad for you esp. in NZ and Aus. Cant you still get vitamen D even if your wearing sunscreen??
If you want a tan...get fake tan. Or work with what you got.
You know they say pale is the new tan.
Look at peaches... shes pale and beautiful and the veronicas and the girl of elizabeth town (l0l cant remember her name) just to name a few celebrities who flaunting what they got!!

I use sunbeds atleast once a week, sometimes up to four.
theyre cheap, quick, relaxing, very effective but exremely addictive....im fully aware of the health risks, but i love having a tan, its stupid but without a tan i feel unconfident and self concious!
Im trying to cut down and im waiting to get paid so i can invest in some st tropez and stay away from the sunbeds for a while!!

You might have to anyway, I heard on the radio yesterday they're considering making sunbeds available to over 18's only! Bit dramatic I think.

yeah i heard that too, but i the chain of sunbed shop i go to is consol suncentre...which has no staff (someones supposed to check it every few hours but i've never seen anyone) you just put your money in a machine, chose your booth and go in. so a 10 year old could go in and use one, and no one would ever know.

Hahaha okay. I never post on this site, but I am so sick of people freaking out about tanning beds. They are not as bad as people make them out to be, and they are should definitely NOT be compared to smoking. If you want to tan, go for it. The point is to not burn. You wont get skin cancer from tanning, but you will from buring. Tanning is perfectly fine, just dont be stupid.
