Spirit of the age, or in this case, Zeitgeist. For those of you who haven't heard of this documentary film here are the three major parts.
First off it starts on about christianity, Jesus Christ and the similarites between this religion, many other religions and their connection to astrology. This section is a very tough topic to discuss, as it deals with millions of peoples beliefs. The historic evidence for both sides of the arguments are key, there are many documents and writings about the subject, it is important to read throroughly on both sides.
Secondly it talks about the terrorist attacks carried out on September 11th. The argument here is that the Bush administration was behind the whole thing. That it was the spark of the new war on terrorism.
Lastly is the story of International bankers. It discusses the american federal reserve, the effect of banking cartels and the impact it has not only on the hard working american people, but the whole world. Here we are given the evidence that much of the economy is controled by very few, but immensly powerful people.
In all this documentary is a wide caption lens of many problems in the world today. here is my summary of the document, i tried to leave out any bias on my behalf of explaining it. I will post my opinions afterwards

Hmmmm sounds oddly familiar to a book called the Bible maybe?
Every wonder why there were all these wonderful miracles back in the day of christ, but none now a days, yet keep paying money to the church or else you will buuuuurn

A: who said we were christians? and B: that's not a point, it's just an obnoxious little jab at people of faith, it doesn't solidify your viewpoint or further any arguement, other than the one that argues that you're an obnoxious retard.

ZEITGEIST IS THE BEST FUCKING DOCUMENTARY EVER MADE.
It makes so much sense and it is interesting. You shouldn't judge it if you haven't seen it.
It definitely changed my beliefs.

So you're saying that people should just completely abandon Christianity (in all of its denominations) because there hasn't been a miracle in a while?

Yeah, because that relates to this topic how? Totally irrelevant.
Zeitgeist shows to people that all the made-up shit shoved into your heads about religion is just bullcrap. The ones that are smart enough to see that all that "Jesus God Virgin Mary" is fake will understand the movie. It's sad that you will still believe in stuff that is PROVED wrong.

What exactly is wrong with believing that there actually is something more to this life? And that there's something to live towards?
What's wrong with fear of an unpleasant afterlife causing you to live a moral life?

There is nothing wrong with believing there is something more to life. But if people think dying and going to heaven is so great then why do we prevent it. (Once again I'm not Charles Manson. I don't kill/hire people to kill other people) But I believe that once you've died...that's it. Otherwise people would want death, would'nt they? I mean if there's something to live towards and it's better than life, why don't you just kill yourself?

alright A: you arent very intelligent, i can pretty much tell from three posts, which might seem presumptuous, but really, you're dumb.
B: part of why i know you're dumb, is because i didn't say i was a christian, and infact argued the idea that i was, and am in fact, not.

1: because suicide is a sin.
2: how do we know you arent charles manson?
3: you're a moron.

Because if you kill yourself you don't go to any kind of a heaven according to some of the major religions.
You have to earn heaven. Not just kill yourself.

OOOH A SIN OMG! Soon enough you will think everything is a sin. I am not dumb, actually, and I if suicide is a sin then what do you have to look forward to? After-life? HHAHAHAH. Is there an after-life for the after-life? And an after, after, after-life? Is there EVER an end to life?
And I am not Charles Manson because he is like 70 years old and in jail forever.

Ohh well that makes soooo much sense I have to earn it. Hmmm, so I have to be a perfect person.
And how do you know that heaven exists? And how do you know I have to earn it?
How can one believe something that is not proved. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Do you believe in aliens, satan? Do you believe in ghosts? What do you believe in?

I'll go hide some files in the Pentagon or something.

The existence of a God/afterlife cannot be entirely proven or disproven.
There is no empirical evidence to prove the existence of God, true, but there is also no concrete evidence on the contrary.
Part of being either theistic or atheistic is accepting a view that cannot be proven. Don't be so condescending when your world view is based just as much on assumption and speculation.

No where in my statement did I say abondon christianity, nor any other religion. I am not a religious person, in the sense that I believe in a higher figure. I think that the morals of the judiao/christian doctrines are good for the common man. It teaches to be generous to your fellow human brothers and to have common morals in your life. It is the fact that I think the higher powers within the religous governments are corrupt. They see the controling power they have over the simple working people that I dislike.

Heres a question for anyone who is of faith, if you believe in God do you believe that he/she is a perfect creation? Without flaws, defects, a single entity of pure truth?

if this is leading into one of those "if he's so perfect why do bad things happen?" questions, i'd like to state GTFO my internets. now.

This thread is made of big fat LOL!
Lialafamous, you truely are a sucker at least research the things you hear instead of taking them at face value. If you had you would have found many many problems in the "disproving Christianity" section of that movie. The first being the majority of people who presented facts in this "documentary" were Sudo historians you know people who don't actually have a degree in the feild but like to think they should because they read a lot of books written by people who do. Second read some damn source text (direct translations [without interpretation]). Third look up some of the gods mentioned to have been re-occurring in religion, you will find 0 reliable sources (don't give me a fucking wiki link) that list quite a few of them as actually existing.
I'm going to link you to a song you should probably listen to it is called "Read a Book (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN2VqFPNS8w)".
(This message is not directed solely to Lialafamous, but everyone who walked away from that movie thinking the things it talked about were facts instead of reading a mother fucking book.

No it's not a if God is perfect why did my dog die kind of question, I already know it's because she was too fat. The question is if life was created by God, the whole she bang, this immense universe in which we live in, where do we stand right now. I don't like to use the Bible as an example every time because there are hundreds of different religions out there with similar and yet different beliefs, but the bible seems to work the best.
The Bible is a good source of humanity, it gives teachings of how to be moral and respectful to fellow humans. That the reward for this good behaviour is an eternal heaven. However with all the talk about how the world was created, and very little about the universe, (which is well, quite a bit more immesnse then our tiny home here.) What does God leave us for further advancment? He created the universe, and whether your an atheist, christian, hindu or just a moron in a cave, you should know a bit about how infinitly huge this space we live in is. With the destruction of our planet, does God have something else for us in his wonderful creation?(and no not heaven)
