I've decided to add to my collection of piercings and am getting my tongue done on Tuesday...
The only problem is people have been telling me stories about it...
Like, one girl got it done and her taste buds went wonky and she could never taste again...
And in another story the piercing hit a nerve in someone's tongue and she spoek with a lisp from then on...
Does anyone know if there is any truth in these stories?
And what are the dangers of tongue piercings?

Umm.. "Anyone know anything about piercings? " see the piercing thread
Its a bit ...quiet at the moment
And you probaly could get a lisp, hit a nerve or a blood vessel. Which is why a competant piercer is very very important. Thats one big blood vessel in there
But Im sure I believe the taste bud thing
See here (http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Tongue_Piercing)
Though I'd ignore the bit about doctors and breathing tubes, thats a bit silly

Thats only because she got it infected, it was probaly spewing out lovely green pus, or it was just lymph. Oral piercings are quite hygenic, because of all the junk in your spit. Thats why they heal so fast, and are very hard to get infected.

Do you have to avoid alcohol after it or is that just a suggestion?

A little bit of alcho doesn really matter, I mean, you dont tend to swill it round your mouth, But it is advised to avoid it if you can. Like in mouthwash...
I wouldnt drink it for a week or so. But it wont kill you, just might slow down some healing

go to a professional who knows what they're doing.
thats all i can say.
but i will laugh at you if those things happen because i don't know what the point of those things are...i mean the only thing they're good for is dick sucking. and you don't really show anyone because its inside your mouth.

Myths.
As long as you get it done by a professional and take care of it PROPERLY then you should be fine.
