I've been thinking about trying ProActive, because i have really oily skin and acne prone skin. I breakout alot and it makes me really self conscious. I've tried so many different face washes and acne treatments from drug store, but nothing seems to work for me. My friends have tried ProActive and they say it works great. But I don't know if it will work for me. I don't want to spend all that money and then have it not work. Like i've tried the Nuetrogena Wave, which my friends said worked great also, and that did absolutely nothing for me. I wasted $15.00 on it.
So, has anyone with oily skin tried ProActive, and does it really work like everyone says it does? Is it worth the money?????

I have somewhat oily skin and Proactive didn't work at all for my face. The spot treatment works really good but the whole kit didn't.
But that's also just from my experiance.

I use Proactiv and live by it. It took me a LONG (couple months) time to see results but I just kept using it and now my skin is 100 % clear. every now and then i get one huge zit...but the spot treatment fixes that in a couple days.

Yeah, the spot treatment is really good. Invest in just that, honestly. It gets rid of really bad spots.

It works for younger teenagers with mild acne.
One your skin starts getting more oily and clogged proactiv won't do jack shit.
Your better off going to a dermatologist, and getting a perscription system. You'll get a mild antibiotic to kill the bacteria causing the acne, and a cream and a cleanser to clean and dry up the affected areas. Its also gonna be way cheaper than proactiv if you have health insurance.
I've used both, and I gave up on proactiv. My skin is clear now, thanks to perscriptions.

I haven't but I have friends who have and they said it works as long as you are very diligent about it and do it everyday. I had pretty moderate acne in high school at one point, but I treated it with Clearasil products at first and then prescription Benza-Clin (I think that's what it was called? Anyway I highly recommend it if you have a dermatologist to give you a prescription) and a pill called Dynacin (which I give a C+). However you might want to try Clearasil's newer products formulated especially for stubborn acne (I know they have some kind of kit out now??), they are in a race with companies like the one that produces ProActive since they all basically do the same thing.

i tried proactive and it dried my skin out so badly that it was pealing and painful. the spot treatment stuff does look really well, so i suggest getting only that

it worked well for me, I started seeing results almost immediatly too.I used the cleanser, toner, and repairing lotion every night. ( in the begginning sometimes i would only use it every two nights depending on whether it was drying out my skin or not), and put the spot treatment on any noticable spots before bed.

It worked wonderfully on me for the first three months,
then it took a turn for the worse, and my skin was horrible and I
regretted using it.
I have combination skin, and the toner with salycic acid made
my face look like plastic and super super shiny if I didn't wear foundation/
coverup.
proactiv gets a thumbs down from me.

I used it, but it didn't work for me. In fact, the only prescription treatment that worked for me was Accutane.
I suggest visiting a dermatologist.
