Ive got a 1967 camaro 327 small block camaro and we got it running, we just have 1 problem, the altenator is too big for some reason, and its the smallest one they make for the 327. The altenator hits the engine. We switched it to the other side of the engine and it still hits. We were going to try a longer bracket but if we did, all the pulleys would be off. The only way that we can get it to fit is if we buy a new altenator with no drag but it cost roughly around $250. Now i dont want to pay $250 when the original one costs $30. If u come up with any ideas tell me cause im stuck.

Have you tried the Powermaster Retro series?

Well i was trying to go stock but i may have to use somethin like that
Does it have a short water pump? are you using short water pump brackets?
get a new long water pump... or used.. be like 10 bucks then get pulleys brackets off another car...
all small blacks are the same size. shouldn't need a small alt.

well i dont want to get a new water pump cause then none of the pulleys will line up, but that is an option, just a time consuming one

Chevy small blocks have the option of fitting a short or long water pump.

even if i take the spacer out and it does fit, i have to buy more parts that i have just bought, i mean i know it wont cost me too much but these parts are brand new

This boggles my mind.
older small blocks have short water pumps.. every car past like 1970 has a long water pump... sticks out more....
