LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Star Wars" is returning to the big screen in animated form.
"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" will open in theaters on August 15, ahead of a series of 30-minute "mini-movies" that will premiere on the Cartoon Network and TNT cable channels in the fall.
"I felt there were a lot more 'Star Wars' stories left to tell," said "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, who will executive produce the project. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and at the same time push the art of animation forward."
Both the film and TV mini-movies will mix favorite "Star Wars" heroes such as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala with new ones like Anakin's Padawan learner, Ahsoka. Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous round out the cast of sinister villains poised to rule the galaxy. Lucasfilm already has produced more than 30 episodes of "The Clone Wars."

A shit load of things happened between "Clone wars starting" and "Clone wars ending" and a lot of them were very fucking interesting thank you very much.
Oh and as for Star Wars Episode VII? Nothing but bullshit so far.

Episode VII is complete bullshit. Won't happen. Ever. At best they'd make a movie out of the Thrawn Trilogy or Dark Empire. At best. And I give that a .01% chance of happening.

Yeah. and it was all covered in books. So now they'll probably just take those stories and anal rape them into cartoon form.

Fuck, Thrawn trilogy would be amazing. That, and Kyp Durron going around blowing shit up with the Sun Crusher.
I remember there were talks a few years back of making the Shadows of the Empire movie. Too bad it fell through. Dash Rendar was the man.

Why the hell would George Lucas make a movie about EU stuff? He already had drafts for VII, VIII, and IX, but since the EU writing they've all become kind of moot.

Which is what I was assuming was going to happen, hopefully, at least, they'll use lube.

Urgh!
How long before he really does decide to make 7,8 & 9 eh!?
It's a good story yeah but it's not gonna be the same as the originals. =(
And to people saying what's left to tell?
A hell of a lot happened between movies 2 & 3.
But still.... don't make more Lucas!
Bloody sellout

I really really didn't enjoy Episodes I-III.
There were certain enjoyable parts, Yoda's always awesome but other than that all I liked was:
I - the pod race and one or two of the Darth Maul scenes
II - the action
III - Mace Windu dying
The story lines I found really drab and stereotypical and shoddy.
I tried KOTOR but couldn't get into it. It seemed more interesting later on (I saw my bro play a bit) but I just couldn't bear the beginning. Horrible attention span.
I read that one Boba Fett book and liked it though. I also had a comic of Darth Maul vs Darth Vader that was real cool (dunno where the hell that is =( ), I haven't checked out the other stuff though.
These fans of Thrawn and the Dark Empire - what did you think of Episodes I-III?
