they told me 6 weeks but i would wait wayyyy longer since mine got infected and everything after i changed it at exactly 6 weeks

The absolute minimum they say is 6 weeks.
Normally it's best to wait between 4-6 months, just to make sure all is healed and there isn't a huge chance of infection.

It all depends on your pain tolerance. Stab yourself with a needle--does that hurt? Now imagine a bigger needle and it going all the way through.

i'd just say wait until it's mostly healed (ie it doesn't hurt to twist it or if it gets caught in something..) i waited like 2 months i think but i was kinda forced to because the top fell out of it... i also had to go up a guage cause the one i got it pierced with was a 16 & the only other ring i had was a 14... i waited until i showered so it was wet & went in easier

yea it kinda hurt.. i have a low pain tolerance though. my friend passed out when she got her's...

It didn't hurt at all for me, it was reallllly quick.

Shouldn't the person who peirced your belly button have told you how long to keep it in?
But I'd say 4 months.
