When they "thin" your hair out.. they just.. cut bits off.
I had that done just today actually.. I don't see why it'd grow back thicker.
Unless you're talking about some chemical treatment that I have no idea about.

Lol... it's just like getting layers.. It's like a normal haircut. You just get.. bits cut off from the middle layers.. I see no way that would make your hair grow back abnormally.

Just to be sure, ask your hairdresser.

Um.....no, it wouldn't get thicker! That doesn't make any sense. If you had a brain and actually thought about it you wouldn't be asking such a idiotic question.
If you have straight hair, then get it thinned. If you have curly hair, don't.

Thin hair=lighter hair.
Curly hair="Poofy" hair.
Light curly hair="Poofier" hair.
You might want to look into getting it chemically straightened first.

What?
No. I have wavy/curly hair.. the "thinning" hasn't made it poofy.
It depends on the density/thickness of your hair, not on the texture.

Yes, I suppose so. Or maybe you just have weird hair.
I'm just talking in general and what everyone says....
But honestly from your posts, it sounds like you just got it layered rather than thinned.

Talk to your stylist about it. Ask her if your hair will get poofy if you get it thinned. Preferably at a nice place so they don't just say it won't to get you as their customer. And by a salon that knows what they're doing because from what I gather not a lot of salons are not big on thinning (it's more of a Japanese thing.)

Well, no. The hairdresser specifically asked if I would like my hair thinned a little bit, because I got a short haircut and my hair's pretty thick and would look better thinned.

I always get my hair thinned with my trim.
No it will not make your hair poofier.

I usually get my hair thinned when I get it cut. :/
I have naturally rather curly hair, I mean, I can blow dry it straight, if I put the effort into it, but I often straighten it. My hair's thick, and while my hairdresser always says I'm lucky and so many people would like more volume, I almost always ask her to thin it out, it makes it easier to deal with.
And, if you straighten your hair regularly, if it's thinner, there's less of it, and it takes less time, at least that's what I find. Also, it's easier for me to just put mousse in and leave it curly when I've had it thinned more recently.

You make some funny remarks.lol
There are certain razor techniques that thin your hair out.
