View Full Version : On screen deaths.

Deaths on screen can be awfully cheesy, obviously fake, and forced; especially when the character utters his/her last dying words. What on-screen deaths have you been impressed with? Which ones felt natural? Impressed you? Shocking?

One of the most disturbing death scenes that plagues my mind is the girl from the car crash in Wild At Heart.

Probably the most disturbing deaths I have ever seen were the ones in Final Destination 3 where the two teenage girls were roasted alive in the tanning beds and when that other girl got shot repeatedly in the face with nails in front of her boyfriend and was still alive for a little while afterwards.

Cannibal Holocaust.

Need I say more?

Especially the turtle scene. That was the most disturbing death I've ever seen a film. Does it even count though, considering it was real?

Anyways:
http://gorehounds.110mb.com/TheSlaughterHouse/Deaths/
A list of 15 hardcore gore movies, each with accompanying video of the goriest death.
First couple fall under "cheesy", but once you get into movies like August Underground, Devil's Experiment, Flowers of Flesh and Blood and Tumbling Doll Of Flesh... well, it's terribly disturbing (also worth noting is the ending of Cannibal Holocaust is ranked number 8 on that list)

^ Sweet link. Anyways, that reminds me ...

The scene in Flowers of Flesh and Blood is definantly the most realistic death scene I've ever seen.

The most shocking was the turtle scene in the Cannibal Holocaust.
And the deaths were real, which made it 10 times more disturbing.

& the poor monkey :(

Also, I haven't really worked up the courage to watch any of the Guinea Pig films, especially not Flower of Flesh and Blood.

Cannibal Holocaust is about as bad as it gets for me. Or Ichi The Killer, which wasn't a gore movie, but still extremely bloody. But it does have an extremely rad torture scene wherein a man is stripped, hung from the ceiling by hooks running the length of his body, and has his cheeks and mouth skewered.

The best on screen death would have to be all of the saw movies.

I know. I felt so bad for the monkey. :(
I wasn't even warned that animals were killed before I watched it. I was in for a shock.

And unless you can handle Cannibal Holocaust without being shocked, then Flowers of Flesh and Blood will definantly make your stomach churn. I was unaware of its reputation, and watched the whole thing. And I cried when it was over, because I thought it was real. But then again, you might not be as sensitive to gore and blood as I am.
But you've seen Ichi the Killer, so I'm sure you could handle pretty much anything. I've never seen it, but I heard it was pretty hardcore.

It's hardcore, yes, but the a good amount of the violence is almost comic, to the point where the movie is part black-comedy (not quite as jet-black as say, He Never Dies, mind you). Like how Kakihara's cell phone rings immediately after he (rather graphically) cuts off his own tongue. Or the whole "I bet I could rip your arm off with my bare hands"-bit. Actually a very good film.
I think (secretly!) I'm a pretty big pussy when it comes to gore, unless it's a part or theme of a legitimate movie. I don't have the balls for the whole exploitation/pseudo-snuff thing a la August Underground, Guinea Pig series, etc.

On a vaguely related note, I need to see Tetsuo: The Iron Man.

Although it's a bitch and a half to open. I actually cut myself trying to get at it. That's how you know it's a hardcore gore movie. It bleeds you.

I'll probably get really impatient and cut myself. I've wanted to see this for soooo long.

Braveheart had some amazing ass effects as far as this thing goes
the animal rights people freaked out about them killing horses that were actually automated =P

talking about that though, the chicken's death in Pink Flamingos is pretty convincing
that's cause it's real though

The most disturbing death scene (real) was from a British police show where some guy next to a club had fallen into a river at night. You watched for 10 minutes while they tried to set up a rescue and find him in the water, with a big crowd watching and shouting. After he'd been under for almost 30 mins, some divers pulled him up and they beamed the fire truck flashlight on him and the guy was completely pale with dirty water pouring out of his mouth and nose. When they got him on the trolley and tried to do cpr, you could just see his whole belly shaking cos it was so full of water. This was at like 9 o'clock, most disturbing thing i've ever seen.
