New trends come and go, and apparently the skinny jeans yet again are going. The new trend I seem to see everywhere in boutiques is the wide leg pant and high waisted pants.

How many of you are already thinking of or replacing your skinnies with these pants?


In my opinion, I'm only getting accustomed to seeing skinny jeans on all body types, and I've only recently been able to fulfill a wardrobe appropriate for these jeans, so I'm sticking with them for as long as possible. I also don't like high waisted pants or wide leg pants...maybe I'll stay out of fashion for a bit, but this trend isn't for me.

i never stop wearing any of the things just because it isnt "in"
i dont need fashion pros to dictate what and how i wear things

also- it means i'm less likely to spend money on clothes

I REALLY like the high waisted wide legs from Kate Moss's TopShop collection, but I cant get any! They've been out for a while I suppose, but they're not on her site!

Im still VERY into skinny jeans, however im going for more the 'boyfriend' style.

They're kinda baggy through the thigh and then straight leg/skinny leg. Kinda hard to explain, but in a light blue wash they look sooooo flattering.

I hated the skinny leg trend when it first came out. It grew on me. But those high waisted pants :selfvomit they remind me of old people clothes. The wide leg pants however are ok sometimes.

Ugh. High waisted pants are like a glamorized version of the mom pants.

i love my skinnies so fashion can leave me behind if it means i have to ditch them.

high waisted pants are georgeous. but you gotta be slim to pull them off, very 70s, very cute.

oh and highwaisted pants tapered at the bottom are ugly.. highwaisted wide legged look nice

I never wore skinny jeans and will never wear high waisted or wide leg. I still wear cute super low regular shaped jeans, cuz I like them. And everyone around here wears them too, the other jeans look stupid to me.

Yeah, I agree with the person above me. I don't really care if fashion trends are considered out or not, I wear it anyways if I think it's cute.

I think skinnies aren't as popular as they first were as they came out, but I do see a lot of stores still selling them. I only have one pair and they're just from American Eagle. However the new trend is the high-waisted pants and wide legs, I've seen a lot of those all of a sudden come out and I like the wide leg pants better than the skinnies - just my opinion. I think they look pretty cute!

I agree. Wide-legged are alright, but you have to pull them off in the right way or they're just frumpy. And I really love high-waisted things, always have. I prefer high-waisted skirts to pants, but the pants are very Katherine Hepburn.

Bottom line: High-waisted, wide legged pants must be worn in a coordinated outfit to be pulled off. I love my skinnies and will not be getting rid of them any time soon!

I think skinny jeans make some girls look awkward.
Especially when they have a lot going on upstairs.
It looks like they're going to topple over.
My girlfriend usually can pull them off but to be totally honest,

Skinny jeans with a cute pair of flats look great! Dont ditch them...doesn't really matter whether they're 'in' or not anyway, if you like them and they look good, then keep them =)

High waisted can lok good worn with a shit or blouse, providing they are wide legged. But i think skinnies are more versatile, I wear mine all the time.

I love my skinny jeans. It's hard finding pants now that go with my shoes as well as m skinny jeans, and I feel bad for my boot cuts and straight leg jeans that I've been ignoring for a while now...

It's just the high waisted pants accentuate my ass which I do not like! They make butts look so much bigger, and the wide legs I think are truly for skinny people because big thighs in wide legs look so much bigger!

Because on average i spend about $200 on a pair of jeans, I'm not going to waste it on jeans that will go out of style in only a matter of months.
Instead I only invest in good-quality straight leg or bootcut jeans that will never go out of style..

Since I love the whole 50's, vintage crap, I really adore highwaisted pants and skirts. Just don't get tapered at the bottom, and make sure the stomach and butt part are very fitting and smooth. Pair them with heels even, but I don't think I've ever seen many moms walk around in those.

wide legs generally don't look good on me. I'm rather petite and they just make me look imbalanced. Only wideleg I may wear are nice work type pants but not like jeans..
I like skinnies - I only own 2 pairs but I wear them often. Although my skinnies aren't the skin tight at the ankle type.. more like the straight leg variety

and threadposter: eh. i give em one more season in the big cities, two more in the less fashion forward suburbs. they were still on the runway for f/w07, i think we're good, for now. come 08/09 we'd better find something else to tuck in our boots, unless the designers really love them like i do. hip slung defnitely is on its way out though, be it skinny or wide leg, waist-high is back. be careful not to look like your grandma.

Skinnies I think is still in. But its going 'out' slowly but surely!! I dont cre though. I love mine. I love my grey ones, black ones, white, purple and yellow ones!! I have too many to let go yet!!

Besides, no one can stop me from wearing them. I would absolutely hate to go back to boot cuts- my flats end up being covered, and I hate that. Skinny jeans are the best for showing off shoes.
