Britney Spears has been charged over an alleged hit-and-run and driving without a valid licence in connection with a car park crash last month, prosecutors said.

If convicted, the singer could face up to six months in jail and a £500 fine for each count, said Nick Velasquez, spokesman for the city attorney's office.

Messages left with Spears' lawyers were not immediately returned.

The alleged incident occurred on August 6, Velasquez said.

Spears was allegedly captured by paparazzi that day steering her car into another vehicle as she tried to turn into a spot in a Studio City car park. After assessing the damage to her own car only, she was shown on paparazzi video walking away.

i doubt she'll get 6 months in jail when lindsay lohan got 1 day for two DUI's and nicole richie only served 82 minutes.

but paris hilton got 23 days in jail, maybe they will give britney more time i don't know.

britney wont even serve a day they treat those celebs like kings and queens if regular ppl was charged wit wat lindsay,paris and nichole was charged wit they would have gotten way more time then that well atleast more than a day wtf

and the reason why i think most of the celebrities get away with it is because they have money where they can afford high lawyers.

she should do the 6 months. it would be good for her. it would get her off drugs and then when she got out she could get her kids back if she changed. and she needs to see that she can't do whatever she wants to do. she's not a freaking princess.
