About two weeks ago I went to the annual mud drags in a small
hick town. Alot of people showed up to compete. It was an a
good time and alot of fun to watch. Everyone was shocked to
see that the first truck to make it through the pit was a late 70s
Ford with average tires, nothing too fancy. Most of the rest of the pickups
had like a 6 inch lift and big meaty tires.I was wondering if any of the users in the
Auto forum are also nterested in mud drags?

I don't race but I do spend alot of the time in the mud. I suspect the truck that made it through had skinnier tires than the average truck. Alot of the big lifted trucks have very wide tires and that means they have a hard time finding traction on the bottom, If you watch alot of competitive mud racers they don't have really wide tires just very aggresive skinny tires.

exactly. taller tires cut thru the mud down to something harder where theres traction. the main thing tall and very wide tires gives u is flotation, and u dont really want that in thick mud but mud with alot of water then theyll work
