My boyfriend has really curly hair, and he's been thinking about getting it chemically straightened. I don't know much about it, but I was thinking about taking him to do that for his birthday. It's not that expensive if you have short hair, but it's not worth doing if you're a guy because guy's hair grows out really fast so his roots will be curly, and his ends will be straight, and it will look really bad. When the hair is longer, the weight of the hair weighs down the new hair and so the difference between the straightened part and the new curly parts isn't as visible.

you have to leave it long to maintain it straight because hair follicles mantain their dna structure and you can't ever change dna.
