Getting your ears pierced at Claires (http://www.claires.com/earrings_landing.asp?top=f&bcid=ear&cid=4) is free, it's just the earrings that you have to buy.

Getting your ears pierced anywhere that they use a gun (like Claire's) is risky, because there is no full way to clean the gun, so the chance of viruses staying in the gun is a lot higher then doing it professionally, where there is almost no chance if it's done right, even if there is a fee.

maybe a few people have had an infection from a peircing at 'claires accessories' but whats to say it was the stores fault, it could have been due to the person not cleaning the piercing as directed, or changing the earring too soon..

The Claire's around here actually use sterilized one-time-use-guns, you might wanna check if yours do too 'cause I've heard some of them don't. The cheapest thing you can get is like $17 if I remember correctly... And it'll get infected if you don't take care of it properly, just like any other piercing.

I got mine done at Claires and they didn't fuck up or anything, but yeah, as someone else suggested, check if the store near you uses disposable guns, if not then go somewhere else.

They shouldn't get infected. Just clean your ears with something else than the stuff they give you.. it's basically just water. Use like hydrogen peroxide or bactine instead.

thank you! the needle is just better. I had my first set done at clairs and it was just some 16 year old girl, i don't remeber if they were even wearing gloves, they didn't get infected but i did tear the hole while trying to get the damn studs out and it just wasn't fun.

when you go to a piercer they change there gloves at least twice while doing the piercing, they talk you threw it and won't make you feel like an idiot. plus they are easyer to clean for me and the rings look better than the studs in my opinion.

If you watch the training video, it will make you think twice about claires...

And if you go to a proper place, they might even numb it ^^
and .. I'll go find some nice gunned pictures. On lobes, just to prove a point

http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Ear_Piercing_Stud

I went somewhere clean, had them gunned. And they still got infected.

I got mine done at Claires and had no problems. They have a newer system which is for earrings with thinner stick things lol (if you know what I mean) so it doesnt hurt, and they do both ears at the same time =]
It depends on what earrings you get.
I say choose the gold ones, youve got less chance of infection and their the ones which dont hurt when the piercing goes through =] Its £22.

i had my ears pierced at Clair's and they are perfectly fine. they've never been infected in all the 6 years since i've had them pierced. but everyone's different and it could depend on the store you go to.. i dunno.

Click that link. Look at the cartlidge piercing.
That's what happened to mine, only about 5 times bigger lump. I took the jewelery out years ago, and the lump is still there. Don't get pierced with a gun. It's just stupid. (and this is coming from a moron that did it 12 times. then FINALLY learned.)

Not everybody's ears get infected when they get them done there.
The Claire's around here use one time use guns.
They throw them away as soon as they get done with your ears.

At Claire's the ear piercing is free.
You just have to pay for the earrings.

I had mine pierced with a gun. The only reason that any of them got infected was because I took the earing out within 3 days, and guaged it. But the gun is fine.

My ears got infected, and I had to go back three times before it would stick. The trick? DON'T use their cleaner juice. It does nothing. Use Hydrogen Peroxide. It might make your fingers smell like a hospital, but you won't keep spending too much money at Claire's.

Carlu
07-23-2007, 08:06 PM
Oh I really don't wann go into this again, don't get guned (read the link stasha left)

And never use Hydrogen Peroxide, you might as well just clean them with bleach if you're gonna do that!

I'm not even going into why cause someone will jsut come along saying it's a load of bollocks like last time.

And getting my lobes done with a gun hurt much more than getting my septum and lip pierced along with a few other piercings. And they ached for weeks afterwards, all my others (bar one but that's another story involving shampoo) have been fine afer a few days.

Get them needles at a proper studio, your ears will thank you for it.

I tried... But I'm not sure I can be bothered anymore.
Choose titanium at least, it's better than gold.

I wanted some pictures of gammy lobes, but I couldnt really find any.

No, that's not true. But there is a greater risk of it getting infecting when getting it pierced with a gun rather than a needle. Needle>Gun.

I got my first set done at Claire's when I was 7. They never got infected but I remember they hurt like a bitch, I did my second set myself with a needle and it hurt not at all.

My sister is 8 and she just had her ears pierced at claires. It only cost her for the earings but then she also bought the disinfecting stuff so it cost a bit extra. She ahs had no problems so far and she has had them for a montj.:D

it doesn't matter if you get the "good" ear rings at clairs, becasue they arn't appropriate for piercings; the only things that should be put into an initial piercing are sergical grade stainless steal, titanium, and nubium in some cases (there may be some newer metels, my info is about a year old), the gun studs are never made of this.

secondly, piercing guns cause high impact blunt force trama to your ears. the studs arn't near sharp enough, so what you get is basicly a crush injury.

i would also like to point out that body piercings swell quite a bit initialy, the gun studs really arn't long enough to accomidate for this, so the jewelry either embeds or never heals properly.

what you use to clean the piercing is a factor too. forget that crap that they give you to clean it with, the only thing you should put on it is antimirobial soap, emu oil, and sea salt in warm water(this has to be rinsed off). no alchohol, no peroxide, and certainly no ointments like neosporine.

all of these things together are what casue the majority of gunned piercings to infect/go wrong. it isn't clair's fault, it's yours for not doing your research and learning that piercing gunns are a really bad way to go.

go to you local tatoo/piercing parlor with a good rep (as a general rule, where there are tatoos there are also piercings). they will pierce you with a hypodermic needle in extreamly sanitary conditions. don't fear the needle, they hurt a lot less; especialy in the long run. it costs about the same as having your ears gunned at clairs with the "good" earings, depending on the shop, but they will charge by ear.

oh and as a side note...NEVER have a cartalige piercing done with a gun under any circumstance becasue you could shatter it...now wouldn't that be fun lol?

Ear piercing guns are like trying to stab rounded blunt scissors through paper.
Opposed to a needle which would be like a sharp knife through paper.

Piercing guns aren't properly sterilized. Alcohol doesn't get the germs off. Thus they can carry gross infectious bacteria.
And Claire's uses one size earing, which means that the earing can be too short which can cause irritation.

Go the safe route and use the needle.

Oh yeah, when I was ignorant and got my ears pierced at Claire's they didn't heal for at least 2 years and wouldn't stop bleeding.
Let me tell you.
It was loads of fun.

I had mine done when I was 7, and they still play up like hell.
Although I wasn't dragged to claire's.

Carlu
07-25-2007, 08:37 AM
Mine luckily after I started stretching my ears stopped playing up altogether, although my left played up about a month ago due to wearing acrylic in a fresh stretch, not painful though and after changing to steel for a week it was fine in about 3 days. Was ok enough to wear silicone in easily.

i had my cartalige with a gun and i onyl had a bump there for the first few months but i dont anymore and it never got infected. I had that done at Claires. My first piercing was the only one to ge infected but that was my fault of not cleaning them.

I would just suggest getting the more expensive sensitive ones.

nascar_babe
07-25-2007, 03:35 PM
NO the sensitive studs arn't good enough; the metel isn't appropriate.

imagirl09
07-25-2007, 04:16 PM
Just saying sensitive because those have always worked for me. And everyone i know who hasnt gotten the sensitive ones have problems.. I'm guessing there's most likely different types of sensitive ones.

i got my ears done at claires when i was like 9 and they were done by someone who was probably to young to be doing it and as a result they're completely crooked. the left one is probably about half a centimeter higher. i guess claires is ok if you get someone who knows what they're doing but an actual tattoo/piercing parlor is probably a better idea.
