Marilyn wasn't skinny except maybe in the last years of her life when she lost alot of weight.

But what do I think of Marilyn Monroe? She was an such a fascinating enigma - that's one of the reasons why she is the biggest icon of the 20th Century. She was also very beautiful; I personally think she was the most aesthetically pleasing actress of all time. Her eyes, button nose, lips - nothing can be faulted. But what I also like about her beauty is that it's not overly sexy or sultry; yes she was remarkably sexy but there was a sort of fragility about her that meant she was the kind of woman you'd want to marry and look after.

Those of you who call her a slut obviously don't know much more than the stereotype of 'dumb blonde' or w/e that is sadly and unfairly attached to her. Anyway even if she dated a few guys (and it wasn't exactly that many - she got married twice and was devasted when she got divorced and she had a few flings in more than a decade, big deal). She was more intelligent and talented as an actress than she is ever given credit for - she wished to move away from her type-cast comedy roles and act in Shakespearean plays and films.

If she was alive today she'd be the least slutty celebrity in Hollywood.

She was totally gorgeous when she was young, in those b&w pics posted above for example, but in her last few years she aged quite alot and her face was gaunt.

I don't mean to be nasty because I respect Marilyn Monroe and realise she was an intelligent and unique person who has managed to captivate people of all generations, but in a way it's better that she died aged 36 because otherwise as she would have gotten older and lost her looks. Her symbolic representation of the 1950's and all that came in that era, her iconic status - would have become somewhat dilluted by time. If she were alive today she would undoubtedly still be revered and loved as one of the biggest stars of the 20th Century but only as much as say, Elizabeth Taylor. But then again having said that there was something about Marilyn that Elizabeth Taylor never had, a certain star quality about her. Her mysterious and untimely death has helped cement her place as a pop icon much as it did for James Dean, Elvis Presley, John Lennon etc.

I didn't thought she looked old in her last few years, she looked pretty the same, except without the vigor. However I think she was an okay person, not a sl.ut by all means. It was showbiz, and she's barely showing enough skin compare to today's standard. I'm not going to insult a dead woman.

I think her appearance was and is highly overrated. She's not that hot. She didn't have that nice a body.

She strikes me as average looking.

Of course I don't know much else about her, like about her charisma or personality or anything so I'm just talking about the "Sex icon" aspect.

I called her a slut because she slept around with a few guys, including the Kennedy brothers or whatever, right? Sex is one thing, but she was, from what I heard, sleeping around with everybody and their brother (literally). It just seems a little wrong to sleep with a guy and his brother like that.

First of all, we don't know about all of the supposed affairs, they're just rumors. The love of her life was Joe DiMaggio, as she was to him. If she made some mistakes, so what, everyone does. It's no one's right to label her a slut.
