Yeah seriously, that's surprising. Oh that's another nice feature Automatix2 has over EasyUbuntu, you can set Ctrl + alt + delete to open up System Monitor :)

most people that use ctrl alt delete use the end task button but a more effective way to end a hung program is killing the actual process. Go to the process tab and find the name of the program like setup.exe and click end process. this should close it immediately unless you're comp is really fucked up. in that case, hold down the power button till it shuts off and restarts

only do the last one as a last resort

i much prefer ending the process. often with windows if you End Task instead of End Process, the program just hangs and then gives you a brief wait whilst it shuts down (or just dawdles) which you can end anyway, and then it closes. End Process is much easier and is instantaneous.

When the program lags your comp to the point that the mouse is jerky ctrl + alt + del is preferable. I'm more used to Ctrl + shift + escape though, same effect but it skips the menus that come up in Vista, or when connected to a novell or 2003 server (which we have at work)

yes thats true.. though that rarely is the case for me unless im in a full screen game that shits itself. im just too lazy to take my hand off the mouse so i find it easier to use the task bar method when possible.

i prefer to click on my taskbar also, the only time id use Ctrl+Alt+Del is when explorer.exe crashes and thus the taskbar is a big pile of nothing.
