I need a makeover but I don't know where to start. I was told by a girl today that I have a lot of potential and I believe I do too. She suggested I part my hair on the left side. Do you know of a good straightner becuase I have a Colman one that my hair doesn't stay straightened with it all day. I have brown shoulder-length hair, brown eyes, and olive skin. I also have big pores and sort of oily skin. I would like to start over with mascara, lipgloss, eyeshadow, and bronzer. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you much!

Do what you want, not what others tell you to wear or look or what ever. How you look is a way to express your individuality, so wear your hair and clothes in a way that represents your personality, so for example if you are a bright bubbly person with loads of energy, you might want to wear loads of bright clothes. Just what ever you like wear, don't think about fashion and stuff like whats supposedly "in" and "out" its a load of rubbish with fashion there should be no rules when it comes to fashion, you should just wear what you like and as long as you like what you wear who cares about what any one else thinks!

Why is everyone obsessed with makeovers? Personally, I think it's kind of creepy when people come in one day and look completely different. Anyway, um, get a good facewash (Neutrogena Oilfree Foaming Facewash rules) to get rid of some of the oil. And use a porestrip to clean out your pores and make them smaller looking. Get some Bareminerals makeup, seriously it's awesome, and their bronzer rocks. Curl your lashes and put mascara on them. Find a nude, fairly natural looking gloss. And don't straighten your hair unless it's REALLY shitty naturally. In that case, get a Chi straightener. They're expensive but worth it. Eyeshadow is kind of overdone in my opinion, so I'd skip it if I was you. Start working out if you don't and get a really good body.
I don't know what you really mean by a "makeover". Post a picture, maybe?

I suggest using a good face wash to get rid of the oily face.
They also have stuff for big pores, but I've never tried any of it.
Ok, make-up.
Massacara is simple.
I suggest using one that has a curled brush.
Maybe get some that adds volume?
Lipgloss is also simple.
I always put on chapstick first.
Then I put on a color lipgloss, you dont have to use a color if you dont want to.
Over top of the color lipgloss I put on a clear shiny lipgloss.
As for bronzer, I wouldn't use it.
It dosen't really do much and if you don't get the exact right shade it can look bad.
I would try some browns or greys for eyeshawdow.
They look more nautreal than blues and purples.
I would also go for eyeliner.
It's cheap, easy to put on, and doesn't take long to apply.
It brings out people's eyes.

I agree with this post. If your looking for a "make-over" don't overdue yourself. Using a facial strip to clean out your pores isn't really all that great for you skin. Like previously stated, just use a face wash and exfoilate once or twice a week, gently. Mascara and Eyeliner is very easy to apply, just line your bottoms for going to school with. Don't apply mascara to your lower lashes, unless if you are going for a more dramatic look. Eyeshadows and thicker eyeliner are great for evening events/partys etc. If you do want to wear an eyeshadow, try to get ones that will compliment your eyes.
Here are some oily-face tips
Use a clay mask (it draws out the oil from you pores so it can be washed away, use twice a week, suggestions: biore pore perfect, shine control face mask)
Facial Powder (Dulls the shine, dust it over your face when needed, don't apply it too thickly because it might make your face look "cakey" or "caked on" suggestions: physicians formula face aid)
Use blotting papers, they work really well. They come in small packages, and you just take out 1 sheet and dab it where your face is oily, with or without make up on. Thats what is really great about it.
Mattifying Gel (controls shine and helps get rid of it caused by oil, sweat, and product residue)
Large Pores Solution
Cleanse face two or three times a week with a salicylic acid scrub. This will loosen and remove the oil and dead skin cells that are trapped in your pores, and make it look less obvious. This will be a little more expensive than just regular face washes. A suggestion is Clinique pore minimizer thermal-active skin refiner (approx. $28)

ditto.
a picture would make a difference on replies.
but if you do decide to straighten..
go with a Chi. Like someone else said they're expensive but worth it!
and make sure you get a heat protective spray or something to put on before you straighten.
Treseme has the BEST heat protective spray for it's price. $4.
HIH.

First all i'd look through some magazines and see if theres a haircut i like it doesnt have to be drasticully differnt than you hair now but if you find a picture take it to like your local supercuts or something and have them do it even if it's just a trim or maybe get your hair layered. That would get you excited for everything else!
i actually have naturally tan skin and these are some products that workm for me:
face wash- clean and clear face wash it comes in a clear bottle with a pump and it's clear liquid it's kinda mild so it doesn't overdry oily skin.
also for a scrub a couple times a week the new garnier nutrisse line of faciel products the scrub is nice with a lot of natural moiseturizes in it which always helps if you have oily skin because the worst thing to due is to dry out your skin because then you produce extra oils.
make-up- i use light eyeshadows on my lid w/ a darker shade in the crease and a light shade outlining your eyebrow , i wear clear mascara and i always use a bronze eyeliner it all lookes very natural. i wear rimmel creme blush it's great and i useually wear a tinted lipgloss with a slightly lighter shade of lipstick thinely underneath. hope u have fun w/your makeover! post a reply or something and let me know if this helped at all. or if you need any other advice on products!
