Ummm.....I was wondering if anyone understood the message/moral of this short story....its still kinda of rough, but tell me what u think
Forehead pressed against the windowsill her mind drifting passed the iron bared windows she sits and remembers.
There had been so much change in her life some of it good, the others so bad that blocking it out was the only way that she could continue living. After everything her heart kept beating on growing stronger with the passing days. For sometime she sat in this room which had served as both a fortress and prison, a room in which she now found peace.
Peace. How sweet it was to find peace and quiet in these few hours while the baby slept. There had once time that this solitude had evade her and she was left with nothing, struggling even to breathe. Her life had been a shipwreck and she a desperate castaway fighting against the waves of chaos that had enter her life, thinking in the back of her mind that soon those very waves would take her under, dragging her into complete insanity.
A fate that she had nearly escape when she had the baby, she had been standing on solid ground up until then, but that baby had crumpled the foundation on which she stood. Having her sweet little girl had been scary, but having her alone at sixteen is what made her want to run to the nearest closet and shut herself up away from reality. Yes, she was justified in being terrified, but that fear was what had helped make her stronger.
Gazing out the window passed the iron bars she remembers him.
So much love she had for him, too much love she gave him, and only in hopes that he would stay. Making her forever his, it was because of this that she went against everything her mother had instilled in her. It was for his love that she went against the wisdom that at one time served as her guide to love:
No man is worthy of a woman’s love it is his dream,
His hope that she would give the gift of
Her love and deem him deserving.
She had deemed him worthy of her love and her body. She gave these gifts to earn his love and beat back the loneliness that had begun to consume her when her father had left.
No, left was the right word to fit what he had done to them. He had thrown her and her mother away like putrid rotten fruit into the trash. Without any explanation he left never saying goodbye, never looking back. So she gave her all, driving blindly into his passion, because she felt worthless, lost, and need badly to feel loved again. Even when she discovered she was with child she only saw it as another reason for him to love her, another reason he couldn’t turn her away. It was almost comically the way in which he denied the child denied her love. Thinking this was some plot to trap him and destroy his 4.0 GPA college bound future. She had been foolish and reckless all for love.
Love, had cost her everything and left her with only her baby girl the only person left besides her mother that stilled loved her unconditionally.
The baby had awaken screaming with all her will to be heard, she bent down and pick the little baby and began to sing gentle the song that her ex-father had once sung to her.
There she sat forehead pressed against the windowsill eyes staring passed the iron bars singing a lullaby while silently swearing that her little girl would always be loved.
