I've been dying my hair a bright, deep red for a few months now and really like it. However, I saw a photo of me in the shadows where it looked almost dark purple, and I really liked it, so now I want to go that colour. However, I don't want to dye over the red and get some obscure colour.
So my question is, I guess, does anyone know of any shampoo or something I can use to make my hair dye fade faster. If its any help I'm a natural blond, and the dye I use is permanent. I dont really want to wait for my hair to grow out, as I have blond roots of about 3cm thats taken around 4 months to appeare. Also, the product has to be avalible in the UK. Thanks x

you can go to a hair dresser to get the color stripped. my advice is to just not use permanent dye because you seem totally fine with change, as i am. my hair color changes about every two months but that's okay because i always use dye that gradually washes out over 4-8 weeks time.

There are some commercial products to remove dye from hair.
Color Fix by Jheri Redding is designed to remove unwanted permant hair color, and controlled usage allows color correction to specific areas, either full or slight color corrections.
Loreal Color Zap gently washes away all permanent haircolor. Ideal for color correction, removal of dark shades, muddy, uneven results or color build up. Leaves hair ready for immediate re-coloring. Loreal Effasol Color Remover washes away permanent haircolor, leaving hair ready for recoloring. Can be used with water or developer.
Jerome Rusell's Punky Color Punk Off is an easy to use gel that will cleanse your skin from hair dye stains.
Roux Clean Touch is a gentle formula that removes haircolor from skin and scalp. Removes excess color from hair ends and assists in removing stains from clothing.

I wouldn't get it stripped. Um, Redken makes a certain shampoo that lifts color in no time (it ruined my 200$ dye job, haha) but it's also awesome for your hair. It's called "Redken Extreme Shampoo" it's in a dark blue bottle, here:

Red's arent a permanent colour so its easy to fade. You will still have red hair as a stain but not as a vaibrant colour.
Knit Shampoo fades
Anti Dandruff fades
Redken Colour extreme will strip it
MYHD Colour Removal is good.
What your probably best to do is semi perm dye with an ashy brown. Ash counteracts red. then dye over that. However, the main colour in purple is red so I dont think it would be that bad if you washed it in sdome anti dandruff then dyed straight over, use a semi first off. Loreal Castings is a good semi stays like a permanent but has no peroxide. I that screws up just do the same colour again and it will turn out.
tay away rom bleaches, strippers (MYHD, Redken, Rverse it) and peroxide based products. Just use semi permanents they are good now. Nicer colours then permanents and your hair wont die.

^^ No worries about me going anywhere near bleach. My friend bleached her black hair to get it back to blonde the others day. Any intresting yellow carrot colour appeared, poor dear :(
But thanks for the anti dandruff tip. More affordable and avalible in the UK. I'll try it when I next go shopping (which will be never.. )
