well...i dyed my hair once about a year ago with that cheap, store bought stuff...big mistake. it took away the shine and dried it out. luckily it's mostly grown out and the shine is back. but i've been wanting darker hair lately and thinking if i get it done proffesionally then it might look okay...but i don;'t know...would this take away the shine again? I probably wont even do it because i'm too chicken...but what kinds of experiences have you guys had with proffesional hair dye?

oh and... opinions! this is my hair now. I want it a bit darker, but not quite black. think i should go for it? :

I've never had anything bad happen to my hair after I get it dyed.I think you shoud try it.

I love your hair color right now.Thats actually the color I want to dye my hair.But a little darker would look good on you.

Anything darker even black would look nice.
Even lighter would look nice, to some degree.

No experiance in profession hair coloring, but henna i know works really well to go darker, and it's all natural, and it really adds more shine and glow. I tried it, and I love it, but you don't mix it with hair dye cause it goes like like golden blond, once even deep red. I actually like it, so I keep mixing henna with some loreal dye of brown. Who would of knew henna brown and golden brown loreal would make red.

Hair dye won't take the shine out of your hair so long as you look after it properly. Get a shampoo specifically for coloured hair. My hair tends to shine best when I let it dry naturally but if you have to blow dry it make sure you have the dryer so the hair is going downwards on your hair....

And I think you should go for a really rich deep brown or even black

I've never dyed my hair professionally. I've had it highlighted professionally though.
I always dye my hair with the stuff from the store.

The stuff from the store shouldn't take the shine out of your hair.
Don't get the cheap-cheap stuff.
Buy the stuff thats like....$10 or $15.
Also, buy shampoo and conditioner that is for dyed hair.

thanks guys. yeah maybe my mistake was that i never used shampoo made for dyed hair.
