Anyone heard of this?
It's when you get a jewel (heart, star, etc...) implanted in your eye.

Here's someone's personal expirence with getting one:
http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20040601.html

I don't really like the star one (mainly the color), but I saw someone who had a white heart, and I thought it was really pretty looking. I'm not sure if it's ever been done in the US yet. People are mainly talking about getting them in the Netherlands, I think.

So, what are your opinions on it?

Edit: Here's a little bit more info on it:
http://vision.about.com/od/eyesurgery/bb/eyejewelry.htm
And in case you were wondering, the cost is over $1,000 (US dollars).

Oh my...

I don't really see the point in that. :/

I had a little gold star in my eye once (from all this glitter at a carnival), it was right on top my contact so it didn't hurt at all. It looked cool. But I would never want one in their permanently nor pay for it.

Jesus Christ.

That's a lot of money for getting something lodged in your eye. :slash:

Lol. Most optometrists and stuff advise against it, because of infections it could cause, and no one really knows the long-term effects it could cause.

I don't think I'd ever get it.

Ewuh. It looks disgusting, and it causes infections. Yay. Just what I want, to go blind out of one eye. But hey! I'll have a shiny star!

Waste of time/money. That said, contact lenses with wacky colours look awesome and heaps disconcerting.

It looks like some sort of strange growth in the eye. Wouldn't it feel weird against your eyelid? Yuck.

I don't pay to get things embedded in my eye... generally I have to go to a doctor to remove them.

Hey, to each their own. Though as far as eye mods go, I want someone to develop a permanent and safe way to get me completely black eyes. It'd be like permanent sunglasses, then my fucked up eyes would be happy. And it'd also look awesome.

I actually think that's one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. Eyes gross me out and putting something in it like that is like a million times more gross than I ever thought an eye could be.

Why would someone pay that much for something so dumb? It could probably blind you or something. And what if it got infected? Omg.

the red vein things look gross.
i can't look at them for too long.

i'd rather spray perfume in my eye, it would feel better.

That thing makes me shudder... I'm sure after the blood vessels in your eye went back to their normal color it would look okay, but I can't stand the thought of getting one.

MysteryGirl44
04-28-2007, 07:17 PM
Yuck. I don't understand how anyone could want that. It is really, really tacky and isn't even attractive.

Nope your cant feel them. its embedded not placed in the eyeball. once it heals over (eyes are the fastest healing things) you cant feel it. as you wouldnt be able to feel implants. I like them but would i get it done? no.

There is a very high rejection rate with these aswell
