LOL
Neons are one of the worst cars ever. Nothing to brag about, even if it was a manual.
I suggest searching the internet for a NEON FORUM instead of trying to find fellow owners here

I've got a 2000 Plymouth Neon. I wouldn't say it's one of the worst cars ever... Jeeps are way worse... It's okay. Ugly as hell though, not really fast... I'd say it's about average. The size of the gas tank is annoying, and I hate how huge of an ass it's got, I can barely see to backup.
I have no idea why you'd compare it to a street racer, maybe we're thinking of two different cars with the same name. I've heard Neons are more commonly associated with gay men.
Seriously.

Jeeps arent trash, if their not taken care of then they are.
Theres a HUGE FOLLOWING for jeeps.
And its true about the Neon=gay men thing

I disagree about the jeeps, but either way, I still don't think Neons should be considered one of the worst cars ever. They're fairly reliable, safe, not insanely slow... I'd say they're average, as far as cars go.
Definitely not much better than average though... I can't imagine anyone would really choose one as their perfect car or anything. Just something to get you from point a to point b, fairly comfortably and with minimal complications. Heh.

here go to www.allpar.com/neon and it will tell you that its beter than the civic, corolla, and cavaler.i think that the first gen(1994-1999) is beter. the small cars could not compete with the 132 HP engine.as far as the gay thing goes i see alot of straight people driving them

The first generation of Neon's is on Consumer Reports "Do Not Buy" list.

I got beat by a Neon(non SRT).... It was pretty bad loosing. It looked like a piece of shit. It was the older bodystyle... After racing him I found out he was turbo'd, but he only pulled a couple lengts on me.

No matter what, an SRT4 is still a neon.
And maybe back in the 90's they were considered good, especially against the cavalier (which wasn't worth crap) but now a days, its crap.
Why else do you think Dodge canned it

No, it's a neon so it's not a street racer. Nobody cares if you have a Neon unless it's an SRT-4, and while it pretty much is a pre-riced tuner, they're decently fast, especially for the price. My friend got one and I have to say I never cared for the SRT-4 but his looks pretty good. Blacked out rims, and red paint with twin black stripes down the body. The previous owner was a professional detailer so it looks very nice, plus there are a bunch of Mopar upgrades dumped into it, like 8 grand worth I think, so it's pretty quick.

I have a dodge neon. But I don't have my license yet, so I'll probably end up selling it before I can drive. It's a piece of shit, anyway. It's all wrecked, and the gas hand won't work.

I had a 99 plymouth highline coupe w/auto, bought it with 5700 miles on it, sold it with around 99,945 miles on it.

Wrong.
The 4.0L "slant" six is arguably the BEST motor ever made by Chrysler.

I dunno pete, the 7.3 litre Chrysler V8 is pretty impressive.
Bristol cars used the chrysler V8 exclusively. They would order a batch, hook one up to a test rig and run it flat out for a month. It would then be stripped and any parts that had worn significantly would be stripped off the rest of the batch of engines and upgraded. Hence why you never see a bristol with a blown engine. They are the best of the best.
Another point... Bristol bought a chrysler V8 wayy back at the end of the 50's as part of a batch. This engine has been in the corner of the bristol workshop since that date running at idle continuously. They use it to power the lights. The engine has never been switched off. I think they just change the oil once a month and leave it at that!

But whoever said that neons are reliable, I would have to strongly disagree with that. Those cars are just plain junk. They aren't reliable at all. I'm sure some people have gotten ones that lasted a while, but they are few, and far between.
Another great motor to go along with the slant 6, is Ford's 300 CI straight 6. My friends got one of them in his truck, 250,000 well, and hard earned miles, and still running strong.

Hopefully in a couple years you can save up enough to get a decent car and not need to settle for a camry >.>;

Actully...
My older sister had a 1995 Neon and as much as she negelected it the thing never let her down. We're talking 10,000 mile oil changes, dash lit up like a christmax tree with warning lights, no power in the car what-so-ever (actully down from stock if you can imagine that). She sold it with a leaky transmission for $1000 in 2001.
