everytime i buy foundation and use it, it never matches my skin. i even tested it on my skin and jaw area at the store. it either looks really orange or really pale. am i doing something wrong?

Sometimes it's just the lighting in the store...natural light is always best. Other than that, I don't know what to tell ya. L'Oreal True Match (http://www.lorealparis.ca/en/cosmetics/index_truematch.asp) is pretty good.

I like Elizabeth Arden compact. Then I use a easybronze sheer gold powder over it to blend it down into my neck etc.. There's loads of different colours too.. I think liquid fondation is bad for making skin look orange or that really pale peachy.

MAC has every shade of foundation under the sun! i could never find a good quality foundation that didn't make me break out or match my skin correctly.
i just went to the MAC counter and told the person there to find my perfect shade and she did! you should definitely visit MAC and have them find and apply the right color for you. i've never gone wrong with MAC makeup and it's worth the price.

I have really fair skin so that was always a problem for me. Why don't you try using a tinted moisturizer. Benefit (http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/product/B000FBLTJA/sr=1-3/qid=1177353576/ref=sr_1_3/002-9502992-5008825?ie=UTF8&n=164989011&bcBrand=core) makes a good one. Tinted mosturizers mositurize your skin and leave you a slight bit of color. If you want to cover up something after that, you can always use a concealer.

Tinted moisturizers work, and alot of times just using one shade of foundation won't match with your skin tone. Go to a make-up counter and let them test it out on you. When testing it yourself, put some on your wrist/jaw line and then go outside to see what matches best.

Yeah, MAC is really good about helping out with that kinda stuff.
And do tinted moisterizers actually work?

Mix your own...
You say like one is too light - one is too dark... mix them together.. (only a little bit at a time!) and you will find your perfect colour...
I can't find one pale enough for me .. they're all orange... i mean ffs.... ORANGE?!? who has orange skin..!?

go to the ysl, chanel, or mac makeup counter(whatever you prefer, but those are my 3 faves). and they will get you the right color.

MAC make-up is extremely bad for your skin.
Find if you are more of a pink tone or a yellow tone. Go from there. Go to sephora or something and have a make-up artist find your color.

Uhh why don't you go to a makeup counter and ask the worker there to match your foundation shade for you? It'd be much, much easier that way yah know.

all makeup is bad for your skin in some form or another. as long as you make sure to wash your face afterwards and not wear it 24/7, no one should have any problems with makeup, unless they're allergic to certain ingredients or have really sensitive skin. i've never had any bad experiences with MAC and i have eczema so for me it works. but it also varies from person to person.
what does sephora makeup have that MAC doesn't that makes it better for your skin?

My waxing lady says it clogs your pores. I believe her.

go to somewhere like sephora and have them do your makeup...ask which foundation they think matches you best.
