I'd take the Mustang or the truck (as long as it's not a Honda truck, those are bollocks) and I'd be just as happy to have some wheels. Let me say this, my parents were going to let me drive a Honda Accord in dark green, about the most uncool car I could get. About 2 months before I got my license my great-grandmother died and left me a load of money in her will and now I have a Cobalt. Sometimes things look bleak at first but if you just ride it out it could turn out pretty good.

If this is the case, you have the first, and either way I'm certain that if you did have a V8 then you'd have the big GT badge on the back, which you do not. The car's a V6.

If a Mustang came with GT badges, it ALWAYS has the V8. No production Mustangs with "GT" badges had a V6 in them, end of story. The most recent Mustang trim levels were: V6 (175hp or 200hp for 1999 Split-port V6's), GT (275hp 4.6L SOHC), Mach 1 (300hp 4.6L DOHC), Cobra (anywhere from 350hp up to around 450 with either a 5.4L DOHC or 4.6L DOHC Supercharged).

If you really want a mustang or something, dude, you might discuss the issue with your dad. Depending on what sort of "truck" he was planning on getting you (technically that could cover anything from a Ford F-150 to a Cadillac Escalade), a 'stang or something in that price range might well be cheaper or at least roughly the same price as whatever he was planning to get you. I can't see any reason why he'd spend more money to get you a car you like less, unless he had visions of you hauling stuff in it or something.

That said, I'm not fond of the mustangs of that generation. Now if you could get one of the new ones, that might be worth it, but the pre-2005 models are mediocre at best given the price. But if you want one, feel free.
