Hi y'all. for the last couple months, the kids at my school have been saying that i wear cheapy clothes and would look a lot hotter if i wore name-brand apparel.

today, i decided to take a visit to the local A&F store, hoping to buy some nice polo's or jeans. Truly, I didn't know what to expect. I hadnt asked anyone about the prices, my thoughts were about $20 for shirts, $40 for jeans.

Boy was I wrong!

In the store i saw lots of neat piles, and at least 20 mannequins. Polo shirts cost $40-60, while jeans were $60-400!

I'd rather wear my 4$ shirts from Old-navy and get made fun of, rather than pay $40 for some "cool" clothes.

it can be a balance of both, but whatever you feel comfortable with.
but i haven't seen any jeans at A&F for $400....
i've seen them for $60-80.

I don't by clothes just for the brand name. I think it's kind of pathetic that you're only considered "cool" because of a label.

I've been on their site before. They've got some cute clothes.

we have a TKMAXX over here. "big labels, small prices" .. do you not have anything over there that is similar?
And.. shopping designer isnt always best because you can find some pretty good things in general high street shops without spending a bomb.
You could always try ebay, you get some good deals on there and the clothes are sometimes brand new, with tags attatched.
shop around.

Abercrombie and Fitch can go to hell...along with Hollister, and American Eagle. Its gotten to the point where people shop there just to show that they can afford it...the clothes aren't even all that. I almost get annoyed when I see girls and guys with the gi-normous logos emblazoned on them, especially when the girls have it written across their ass....show some damn originality.

Hell, I've never actually bought anything from the place. I just love the shops. They're all glowy and more like a club than a shop.
Hell, can you tell me of any other shop that is massive, has psytrance blasting at you from every angle, has a massive display of a Xenomorph made from scrap metal, mannequins in what look like cloning pods, UV lights and a friggin' live DJ? In what's esentially a shop?!

$30 for a tee, and $80 for jeans isn't all that much unless your poor or lower middle class......I work, and I pay for half of my clothes, and still have easily enough money to spend on insurence, gas, etc. and I wear more expensive stuff then A&F. It's all about having a budget and planning in advance.

I rarely pay full price for big-name clothes. Sorry but I think it's a ripoff to pay $100 or more for jeans. I won't pay more than $60 for jeans, and I won't pay that kind of money for ripped jeans. I wait and buy them when they go on clearance, or I go to an outlet.

I usually just buy a few expensive shirts ($70 max) and then the rest of my clothes are t-shirts or marked down shirts. IMO, I don't care that much about buying the latest thing, and I don't feel the need to pay a store's high-dollar rent. That's what you are paying for by buying full price Hollister, AE, A+F etc.

I'm a cheapskate I guess but I would rather save money for other things. That is just my choice.

Hollister is the same quality as Abercrombie&Fitch, same clothes different name.
Its also quite cheaper.

Don't you ever get bored of Old Navy?

Urban Behaviour is extremely inexpensive!

Ahh, you're right. Every thing's expensive when you're poor. :happysad:

I think it's funny though that the higher quality clothing(AE) is less expensive than the shit clothing(A&F).

For one, don't do what other people want you to do, if you liked your other clothes why change? And two, Abercrombie is shit. Everyone wears it. But if you want clothes like that I'd tried AE they're alot cheaper then Abercrombie, or maybe even Hollister, they're the same clothes basically but a little cheaper. But personally I think Abercrombie, Hollister, AE, and Aeropostale are like clones of each other and anyone who wears them are like clones, they all look the same and have absolutely no orignality.

I wasnt joking you, $400 AF jeans:

http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_10901_328772_-1_12236_12202[/URL]

ok people; i live in a sort-of upper class neighborhood. Average homes here sell for 721k. My parents make a decent amount of money, probably more than most of the residents here. That doesnt mean that i can waste their money on clothes and other shit.

So, I have devised a way to get brand name clothing without the brand name price;

Today i visited Old Navy, bought 6 nice shirts with absolutely no logos on them for around $3.50 each.

I also stopped by the fabric store, and purchased a bottle of discharge paste ($4.50). Putiing discharge paste on cotton causes the opposite color to appear, as so demonstrated in this shirt:

http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_10901_322787_-1_13051_12202

At home, i pulled out my stencil kit, and spelled out some cheasy solgan that i found on the internet. I painted over it with the discharge paste, and voila, an awesome preppy t-shrit for 1/6th of the price.

Excuse me, I'm not poor and I still can't afford those prices. I have money, my fiance has really good money and we budjet properly. I'll stick to walmart, it doesn't break my bank account.

No. Not at all.
I personally think American Eagle is a cheap store. I dont really even like the clothes either.
ThreadStarter, why make some knock-off look alike clothes? This reminds me of some freshmen girls in the bathroom with a big black marker & stencils(sp) drawing the Hollister bird on their clothing. Pathedic. it just looks poser-ish to me. (&& dont they know once they wash it the marker is going to run, ruining the shirt?) If youre upperclassmen, you can afford these clothes. Or get the clothes on sale or something.

Well, first the store opened 15-20 minutes late. Then right when I walked in my coat (which was from hollister) set the alarm off cuz one of the tags was still in it. Then I couldn't find anything I had seen on the website that I wanted and it was so dark in there I couldn't tell what color anything was. The music was so loud and that store is like a maze. I was getting lost in there. Then I finally found a cami i liked but they didn't have my size in it. I ended up getting another shirt which turned out to make me look pregnant. I learned from that 2 try stuff on before i buy it.

well if people wernt such snobby judgemental whores i wouldnt have to resort to this. Its gotton to the point of being denied a seat during lunch. Some friends, eh?

but mind you, my diy shirts look pretty darn sweet.

Instead of my previous idea to write brand names on the shirts, ive started using my own designs.
