i need something to wear to a concert (metal. alternative. rock. punk. battle of the bands)

and i need proper shoes but i think that those converse things are FUGLY what should i wear instead?? i was ordered not to look preppy lol, and i dont look THAT preppy normally, but ...

they are just shoes, if you walk into a place people will be more focused on your shirt, then pants, then shoes. As long as you don't wear something extremely noticable, you could basically wear any type. Whenever I go to concerts I just wear birkenstocks(not the sandal type, the slip ons). I never get any funny looks.

Any sort of shoe would be okay, probably black and white would be a good colour..?

My shoes are Anarchic (skater shoes), and I love them.
As for clothes, just wear a tee shirt and jeans.

Wear anything but flip flops to a concert. For obvious reasons.

I'd say skater shoes just because that's what most guys wear in Australia.

yeh, go for Vans or Etnies or something liek tehy said. skate shoes are the way to go. but tbh no one will really notice your shoes that much. The max attention u cud ever get was one girl, going, ewwww look at their shoes. and im sure u can get ovr that.
