I saw it on Friday, and i thought it was good, but not that great...but maybe thats just because I dont like all the killing stuff. However, I must say Leonardo DiCaprio was looking pretty good in that movie.

Don't say Scorsese is a genius if you haven't seen Goodfellas. It's empty.

Or Raging Bull. Or Taxi Driver.

the number of movies you have seen made by a person does not give you the right to judge them. you guys are tools, thanks for your time :)

Brokeback Mountain won best picture last year, but it's more than safe to say that its controversial values will not have everyone loving it. A slightly pretentious award ceremony does not morally justify a film's credibility.

she stated the movie was not fabulous (as in a stated fact). i said that based on the film's awards it was. and now you are saying the academy awards do not justify this movie's stature?? please explain

And you are saying it does? No, it doesn't. Not for everyone. The academy awards do not glorify and generate the overall opinion of a film. Big wig awards will not compensate on behalf of all. In my opinion, Capote should have nudged its way past Brokeback. Same with Shawshank Redemption / Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump. Scorcese should have rightfully won this award with both Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. Perhaps this is just me?

Her stated fact was no more than a personal opinion. You could quite easily watch an award winning title and not feel the hype that the critics were banging on about.

yeah its all opinions
but winning such awards DOES give credibility to the movie.

Crash is fucking contrived overhyped bullshit, I couldn't even enjoy it because everyone was so into finding the "Deeper" meaning
If there wasn't any hype or all this pretentious crap, i would've liked it

As for the departed, I have it, but i need to find the time to actually sit and watch it attentively, most likely this weekend
I've only seen Taxi Driver by the guy who made the movie, and I loved it so much

according to some people in this thread if you havent seen Raging Bull, The Taxi Driver, and The Departed as well as any other movie Scorsese ever made youre not allowed to judge him. laugh out loud.

This movie was laughably bad.

Great acting, Great directing DOES NOT EQUAL good movie.

The story was stupid, low life, and predictable. The ending was laughable. Everyone dies. How stupid is that? No plot twists what so ever. This movie is stupid. Just plain stupid. I have lost all respect for the Academy for giving it all the Oscars that it did.

It was NOT edited better than Babel. There are several dozen film editing errors in The Departed, and only three in Babel. That shows you how credible and honest these awards are.

Babel wasn't that great of a movie. Sure, it wasn't shit, but it was no master piece.

you're obviously too simple minded to understand the plot. thanks for your opinion though even if it is worthless laugh out loud
